Stayed for one night, last Friday. We booked here because it was the least expensive non-dump we could find on the night of a Packers home game. I wish we would have paid the extra $50 for the Hilton, etc.

The layout of this place is crazy. It must have been built before elevators were invented because it's only 2 floors, but seems to cover about 19 city blocks and is maze-like in design.

The only thing that enables you to identify the current date within 10 years are the LCD TVs. Everything else seems to date from around 1990. Furniture, bathrooms, etc. The toilet in our room was clean, but the enamel had actually worn through at the bottom of the bowl, exposing the cast iron underneath.

Every time someone would enter or exit the exterior door near our room, the smoke alarm in the hallway would go off. Not just annoying, but seemingly unsafe. The card readers on interior and exterior doors took multiple times to work every time.

There was a wet, musty smell throughout, which I would attribute to the pool. Interior spaces are extremely dark, also. The breakfast was free, and not good. DIY waffles and the store bought bagels were about the only edible items. Undercooked pork sausage? Blech. Not to mention the breakfast area is crammed into an area that's probably 1/3 the size of what most hotels offer.

In summary, I wouldn't have been upset if the room were $49. This would be a passable budget hotel At $209 and with the current amenities and condition of the building, I feel like I was cheated on a grand scale. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: The best room choice would be at a different hotel.

Dear Fielding_Mellish,

Thank you for your review.

We are sorry you were not happy with the Quality Inn & Suites. We are currently starting the third year of a 4 year remodeling project.

It is important for us to know when fire alarms are malfunctioning, we will change out the fire alarm and the toilet immediately.

Sincerely,
Deb McAllister

We were there with a group had 5 rooms. They put us all together by the Kiddie pool which was great. It was quite and we had the area pretty much to ourselves. Had tables and chairs and were able to sit out there rather than in the rooms. Staff was very responsive to any request we had. The breakfast in the morning was very good. Liked that there was different selections each day. We will stay here again when in the area. Yes it is older but kept up well.

The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean but dated. We paid about $140 for one night, which was more than we would usually pay, but the room was large, beds were good and we were desperate to find a room for the night. Overall, nice enough and there was a full breakfast.

This was probably the best suite my family of six has stayed in, as far as layout. While many suites utilize an open style, this older hotel had a separate bedroom around the corner from the living room, with a bedroom door that locked. Both rooms had a TV. This was perfect for my husband and I and our older kids to stay up and watch the Olympics while the younger two went to bed. The hall and pool area have a 1970s feel, but that was okay for us. It did smell a bit like it had once been a smoking facility (or perhaps parts of it still are?). The rooms were nicely furnished, however, and very spacious. Two queen beds in the bedroom and a pull-out sofa that sleeps two. There is a range top, half-size fridge, small microwave, toaster, and large dining table with 4 chairs. Breakfast was great--if you can eat wheat. I counted 6 wheat-based items besides the cold cereal. That was okay for our wheat-free family on the day bacon and American potatoes were the main dishes. The next day it was biscuits and gravy. Just one gluten-free bread of some kind would really be appreciated! My kids loved the pool. There is a whirlpool and a separate wading pool that goes 1.5 to 2.5 feet. The main pool is 2.5 to 7 feet. The price was unbeatable. We paid $217 for two weekday nights, including taxes.

While the hotel is centrally located and the rate is reasonable, it was older and rather dark and dingy. Our room was right across from the kiddie pool, which wasn't a problem as far as noise was concerned, but the hallway smelled of chlorine and in the morning a portion of the pool area was closed off because someone had thrown up.

After going out to the car to get something the card key did not work and after asking help from three guests, was finally able to get back in.

The breakfast was very nice. A wide assortment of hot and cold offerings, all fresh and tasty.

Room Tip: First floor has pool. Nice for families, could be problematic otherwise.

Dear 24st35,

We are sorry you were not totally pleased with your stay. We are two years through a four year plan of improving our rooms. The large open pool area can smell of chemicals at times. We are looking at ways to improve the air quality.

We are glad you enjoyed the breakfast.
Thank you for your comments and know that we are committed to improving the guest experience.
