My wife and I have chosen Angela's on the River on many different occasions and never had a bad experience at this restaurant. The restaurant is an old historic building situated on the bank of the Coal River in the center of the town of St. Albans. The structure itself is very well maintained and furnished, and you will find it lavishly decorated by the owner for all major holidays. Your great experience will start upon your arrival, when you will most likely be greeted by the owner with a smile and a friendly embrace. The food is always fresh, of the highest quality, and cooked to perfection. Angela's has seasonal dishes as well as regular menu favorites that are sure to please everyone in your party. They also have a full bar that compliments the food very well and the service is rivaled by nobody else in the area. From the beautiful structure to the impeccable food and service, it's comforting to be able to encounter all these attributes in one dining experience. At the end of the evening you will be happy you came and you will leave with the feeling like you just had an amazing meal with close family.

Lovely little find! Went with some friends. They had a huge wedding plus a birthday party at the same time so we were not surprised service was a little slow. Staff were friendly & attentive to our needs. We were seated in the downstairs & could not see outside while eating. The grounds is beautiful (we walked around a few minutes before we left). Food was outstanding! Seasoned perfectly-I had baked steak. Husband had the seafood platter-he loved his dish too. One of our friends had steak & he raved about how good it was. We will definitely return!

Our family tried Angela’s for the first time. I had the house whitefish, panfried to perfection. The rolls, while not homemade, were fresh and tasty. They serve the delicious house dressing made famous at a couple of former area restaurants - French with bleu cheese crumbles. Probably most noticeable, though, was that while there were two events happening on this Saturday night (a large buffet birthday party upstairs and a wedding party downstairs), we were served efficiently and attentively. We will surely return.

My husband and I eat here many times on our anniversary. The food is always excellent. We have never had a bad meal. This year when Angela heard it was our anniversary she gave us free desserts. The hot fudge cake was delicious!

Angela's on the River is a wonderful restaurant set in a historic home (The Chilton House, built in the mid 1800's). It overlooks the Coal River.

The food is moderately priced and delicious. The service is always top- notch and there are typically creative daily specials. For a landlocked state, their seafood is exquisitely fresh.

Definitely give Angela's a try!
