We arrived in Yakima on July 4 and found most restaurants closed and their workers home with their families. One exception was the 8th Street Bistro at the Holiday Inn. We did not expect much but were very pleasantly surprised by a nice selection of wines generously supplied, friendly wait staff and a meal of grilled salmon that was among the best we have ever had. When I complimented the chef, Carlos, he explained one secret: to cover the salmon with a shallow pot on the grill so that it interior cooked at the same rate as the exterior. The Cowiche Kitchen down Yakima Avenue is more stylish and offers great service but for a quiet and enjoyable meal, the 8th Street Bistro is a good choice.

When I travel on business, it is nice sometimes to just hunker down at the hotel after a long day and have dinner without having to leave and drive somewhere. This is not just "passable" food, it is really good and has many choices from Surf and Turf, Rib Eye Steaks, to Entree Salads, to Burgers.

There is a Bar attached to the restaurant, and they have at least 8 taps for different beer selections, as well as full bar for other adult flavored drinks!

They are doing a Surf and Turf on Friday's now, and in the past it has been fantastic.

The lady that was greeter , waitress, bus person ... was very friendly and nice. We enjoyed our dinner and our breakfast in this restaurant. We felt it was such a relief not to have to get out to go somewhere for good food and service. It was very enjoyable and soo accommodating for our wheelchair accessible needs.

This salad was so big I thought, no way was I even going to come close to finishing it. It was so good I ate the whole darn thing!

The food was good but a loud argument between the bar tender and a couple having drinks (they left before touching them) left us with a poor image of this facility! We won't be back!
