Room number 419

Pros - the staff is incredible.

Cons - rooms are outdated.

We were a bit disappointed in our room at Alderbrook, we had heard great things about the resort but I just didn't get it. Our room was dark even after opening all of the shades, the air conditioner is a stand alone unit and was louder than a standard hair dryer. We would have left our balcony door open instead but there was a staircase right next to the balcony. The air conditioner kept us up all night.

There was a large rip in the carpet that had some pretty gross stuff in it, a used band-aid and a coin. Our niece visited us in the room and ended up stepping on a piece of glass. The staff handled it wonderfully, they gave each kid a smore kit and gave my niece a stuffed animal but really the room should have been vacuumed properly before checking in a guest.

My favorite part about the room is the window seat looking out over the courtyard. It was comfortable to sit on and just a relaxing space. The bathtub is also incredible, super deep and very clean. My least favorite part about the room is how dark the vanity area is outside the bathroom. They provide a lighted mirror that plugs in but the cord was all knotted up and didn't reach to the shelf area, you have to either sit down to do your makeup or bend down to see in the lighted mirror.

I doubt we will ever go back and stay at Alderbrook again, even though the staff was great and treated us very well they can't make up for the outdated, unclean rooms.

If it wasn't for the staff I would have given only a one star.

I'm glad you got to experience our greatest asset, the staff at Alderbrook. As for the parts of your visit that didn't go well, we all wanted to extend a sincere apology for the things that we can control. We simply should have done better. We take great pride in our operation so when we fall short we take it seriously.

Thank you for sharing your honest feedback. As a note for future reference, we will be updating our rooms in January. If you decide to return, you will no doubt be more pleased with the guest room.

Recently stayed at the resort on a work retreat/conference. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, and the grounds are incredibly gorgeous. The views of the water and mountains at sunrise and sunset are gorgeous and if you are lucky, you will see seals in the area. Amenities are plentiful, so you never need to leave in order to have access to hiking, running, and water sports. Food was good, and they were very accommodating to those of us with specific dietary restrictions.

The beds are very, very comfortable. The bathroom was large, but the shower and tiles needed a good scrubbing. My room was on the ground floor, so unfortunately I didn't get to see the views of water and mountains from my room. The AC unit was portable and extremely loud, which was unfortunate. Additionally, my room was off a hallway that guests took to the gym and pool, so I heard more screaming kids than I would have liked.

Room Tip: Be sure you understand what kind of view you will have from your room

Walking into the Alberbrook is impressive. Large entry and spacious, stone, wood, a welcoming fire. The staff at the front desk are friendly and helpful. Our room was large, very clean, very cozy, the bathroom was clean and large. The Alderbrook surprised us with an Anniversary card, a bottle of wine, 2 nice wine glasses, and all the makings and sticks for S'Mores. They have a few outdoor fire centers that are so comfortable and beautiful. Dinner was perfection and dessert was another surprise. Alderbrook treated us to an anniversary dessert! It was beautifully served and was delicious. Highly recommend this top-notch, beautiful place.

We stayed in a Creekside 3rd floor room. It was the only one available so we were happy to have it, but would have preferred a room with a balcony. Regardless, the room was great and overlooked the little cottages and greenery next to us, so not bad on the eyes at all. The beds and bedding were top notch. The AC worked like a dream, as it should in a nice hotel. Everything is lovely here...the grounds, the dock area, the restaurant (great food) and outdoor patio. We especially enjoyed the large pool and hot tub, which are for adults only after 9pm. We rented some kayaks from their recreation rental place on the dock and enjoyed kayaking around Hood Canal and even had some close encounters with seals. So fun! Alderbrook is definitely taking the place of Salish Lodge as my fav retreat!
