Cinco de Mayo started early this year! At 6pm, we were unable to get into Taqueria Antojo and decided to revisit Los Amigos given good recent reviews - this in spite of a couple medicore visits in the past. Sadly, it lived down to past visits.
The counter service was nice but I was very unhappy with my food on our recent visit. Yes, this is authentic, but the prep is sub-par. The chile relleno was cold in the center - clearly it had been prepared in advance and then cooked to order...they completely failed to heat it through. Worse, the lengua (tongue) was not cleaned well. This is one of my big tests for any place. All of the outer parts had not been removed, nor all the "extraneous bits". It also did not smell clean. If you eat lengua or tripa you know what I mean.
So - nice people, but no thanks.
