We stayed here for two nights in order to be close to Anacortes as we were doing a whale watching cruise. The hotel was a bit hard to find, but otherwise in a good location. The rooms were clean and sufficient, but very loud, you could hear everyone around and above you. The pool and hot tub were nice. The breakfast was not very good, but what can you expect. Fine for what it is, which is a clean, budget chain hotel.

My husband and I had stayed here a little over a week ago for 2 nights since it's fairly close to the airport, and we had a flight. We had no issues during that visit, but when we returned again after coming back from the airport, we were told that we couldn't stay there again because we were not quite 21. Despite having a printed receipt of our previous stay at the same exact location (and of other Holiday Inns we have stayed at in the past without any problems) we still were told to go elsewhere. To me that shows a lack of training and poor quality employees as we have not encountered this issue anywhere else in almost a month of traveling.

Dear Addie F,

Thank you for leaving us a review or our Burlington WA Holiday Inn Express and Suites.
We truly appreciate your comments and Feedback. We apologize that you were unable to stay with us this last time due to the change in the age rental of our rooms. Unfortunately our hotel has changed management and we have changed our check in age to 21. We do apologize for the inconvenience this caused.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Burlington to be close to our whale watching trip from Anacortes the next day. The hotel is convenient to Anacortes, but squarely average in quality.

The rooms are OK, and very clean. Pluses: comfortable bedding, microwave and fridge in each room. Breakfast was typical Holiday Inn Express, and nicely done.

The negatives: super slow Wi-Fi, and a desk clerk who ever-so-annoyingly told us that check-in time is 4PM and until then, rooms are not ready…but at 4:00, our room would magically be ready. Really? It amazes me that some motels hold on to this logic and don’t do what they reasonably can to accommodate early arrivers (in our case, 1:30 PM). And,the way the building is constructed, you can hear people walking on the floor above you if you’re on the 1st or 2nd floor. Be sure to ask for a 3rd floor room if you want a quiet room.

We can recommend this Holiday Inn Express if you’re arriving at or after 4:01 PM.

Room tip: To avoid noisy neighbors, select a room on the 3rd floor

We apologize your stay was negatively impacted by the noise from the other guests and your check in time experience. When we went they were repainting and renovating outside, so it looked a little rough. But the inside was very clean and the front desk staff was nice and helpful. They gave us food recommendations and menus. The room was spacious enough for all 4 of us and they had four pillows on each bed (nice). We stayed on the top floor - there was 2 bus loads of high school baseball players there too. We ended up in a suite with an adjoining room. Unfortunately I could here our "neighbors" in the next room talking and laughing until 3am. The breakfast had plenty of options - quality was that expected at a hotel. It is located close to main road, so we did hear some road noise.

Room tip: Make sure you request a room that is not adjoining, the sound travels through the door easily.

The staff were very friendly. Anna gave a great first impression when we checked in. She was very nice and extremely knowledgeable of the property. The room was clean and fixtures were up to date. The shower had great water pressure. The complimentary breakfast was the best I have ever seen. Afternoon cookies too! The location was quiet at night.
