Description: Wessex Hundred Founder Patrick Duffeler, Sr. and his family spent many years traveling throughout Europe, and in particular, the South of France. The food and wine culture in Provence, specifically, left an indelible impression of them and forever changed the way they experienced the culinary arts. Cafe Provencal brings to life the ideals of the Provence food culture - a creative celebration of local producers, coupled with delicious wine in a comfortable and relaxed setting. The Cafe Provencal aims to showcase the delicious bounty of Virginia farms, and those in surrounding states, to create a true farm-to-farm dining experience. The Wessex Hundred culinary team works especially hard to support smaller farms – quality farms that raise animals humanely and practice environmental stewardship. The farm-to-farm concept isn't easily accomplished, but the team is committed to this philosophy.

First time there and we were impressed. Foie Gras and Lamb chops were delicous and the chef was able to make my wife's well done fillet, juicy. A magician!

We dined here as part of a package stay at Wedmore Place. Because of the package, we did have a limited menu, but we enjoyed the food we chose. Our waitress was extremely nice and very attentive. The caramelized onion soup was delicious and very different from other onion soups. My scallops were perfectly cooked and my husband enjoyed the roast chicken. For dessert the apple tart was fantastic. I would say this is a very nice pick for a special occasion meal.

Were staying onsite at the Inn and really looking forward to a nice and romantic meal. The restaurant was nice. Wine was good. I had the Wessex 100 salad to start. That was best part of my meeting. Wife had the Chestnut Spaetzel...hers, just fair at best. She had the chicken - which was literally 1/2 of a chicken. Not seasoned, hot, juicy, but bland. The bed of risotto was really good; gummy, but tasty. I had the filet. Came out cold and tough. I've had better at lesser restaurants. I believe the cold part was on account of our server. He was not very attentive. Left us with dirty plates on our table and no offers of drink refills until we asked. Dessert was a "Honey Pot" which frankly was the best part of the meal. Interesting custard like dessert. After dinner coffee was just coffee. Nothing special. Disappointed after the buildup in our minds..

Beautiful setting and superb service. For starters we had salad and oysters. My wife had the scallops and I had the rockfish. Both were fantastic. Waiter was attentive and extremely knowledgeable. We will be back.

My DH and I expected to replicate our superb dining experience of Christmas Day 2016 when we returned Christmas Day 2017! Such was not the case. Everything from décor, now a beige monotone (no more blue and white toile chairs) to no amuse bouche, seemed negatively different. Even the fixed Christmas Day menu was in keeping with the bland decor, though trying and failing to be fresh and innovative. My husband's rack of lamb consisted of two chops, which were tasty but exceedingly fatty. Last year the tables were full, but this year there were empty spots. Wait staff was also diminished and did not seem as professional as we remembered.. There are many choices in Williamsburg that provide memorable dining experiences. We decided we will give this place a time out.
