Excellent service, craft beers and menu. I ordered salt & vinegar pork rinds to start, and while some were nice and crispy, about half of them were hard as a rock. Thee AO Burger was spectacular, but the first one brought to the table was ice cold, so I had to wait for another while others in my party began eating their dinner.

This is a fun place to eat and drink. We have been twice and both times sat at the communal tables in the bar. The beer flight is very good. And they have a different selection of beers all the time. We also had sandwiches and the ham plate. All was very good. It is a nice mixed crowd of young and old. We are making it one of our favorites when we head downtown williamsburg.

We discovered after a long day at Colonial Williamsburg that we should probably put more though in to where we might have dinner. Colonial Williamsburg was a bit crowded and it seemed that all the restaurants were full. We had eyed Amber Ox as we did a drive thru the day before. We decided to call and they had one reservation left at 7:30. YAY. We happened in a little early and decided to have a seat at one of the bar tables and have a beer. We actually ended up staying there for dinner as well. Great atmosphere and a simple yet delightful menu. The menu for the bar area is a bit smaller that the menu for the dining area. Not sure why they do this as the are pretty much together anyway.

This is definitely a must visit for Williamsburg. Locally owned and operated by folks that really know their craft. We tried to visit for dinner and there was an hour wait, so we went today for lunch to see if it was really worth the wait? It was!

We were blown away by the food, the service, and the beer! If you don’t know, let me educate you, they serve a variety of small batch beers made next door at Precarious Beer, some are collaborative efforts with other local breweries. The food is all locally sourced and the menu changes with the season. The staff is pleasant and knowledgeable about both food and beer. Ryan was the manager on duty, and he was phenomenal with his staff and the customers!

Be sure to look for Precarious Beers new Beer Hall opening soon... I was so excited about it when I heard there would be a second location to get this great beer!

We will be back!

We visited Amber Ox Public House during our vacation in Williamsburg. It was our first time and I definitely will be back next time we’re around!
The food deserves a Michelin star for sure!!! Beers are the best, too. I like to visit breweries during my trips and Amber Ox is the best so far! Price, food, beer, and service are top notch!
Our server Stephanie made great recommendations for beer flights based on our tastes. She was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed.
Overall, Amber Ox is a winner if you decided to visit brewery. All beers are brewed inside and food is just above and beyond of expectation. As usually in a brewery you can find good fresh beers but food choices are limited to pizza/snacks.
Amber Ox Public House is the best combination of the best beers and Michelin quality food for a regular price. The portions are huge!
Thanks a lot Stephanie and Amber Ox! We had a great time, food, and beers!
