From the moment I walked in, I knew this was a quaint little place. We were greeted immediately by the friendly owner. She made us feel just like she had known us for years. We ordered the homemade BBQ, a hamburger with cheese, and potato salad. The BBQ is honetly some of the best I have ever eaten. Absolutely delicious! My cousin ordered the hamburger and said it was amazing. It was a thick fresh patty. Both of us agreed that the potato salad was one of the top 5 we've ever eaten anywhere. What makes this unique is that for 28 years the owner has allowed people to autograph the walls and the ceiling throughout this restaurant. One might think, oh, that would be tacky, but its not, its like a work of art. Gertie, the owner, also sells some grocery items, and has a wide selction of drinks available. There is also some artwork and unique gift items available here. I would hardily recommend this restaurant to family and friends and I will be making a return visit there real soon.

Go for the barbeque-it's sweet and delicious. Cole slaw excellent and fries fresh cooked. We got ours to go as we were staying at nearby Alpine Cabins at Steele's Tavern, but enjoyed listening to the conversation at this Vesuvius, Va.community center.

I have eaten chicken pot pie for decades. I can't believe how scrumptious the pot pie was that I ate today. Oh...and then there were the warm spiced apples on the side....have mercy ! I will post a pic. Nothing I can say will equal the meal I had. We were 9 folks who had hiked to the falls and back. We had given notice of our arrival earlier in the day. You must come here...hike or not...no excuse...this is THE place to eat.

My mom and I stopped in here for BBQ sandwiches after climbing Crabtree Falls and Spy Rock. The BBQ was pretty good. I guess it's Virginia bbq, not Carolina like we were expecting, being from Hampton Roads. It was more saucy. It was very good and fresh, though. Fries were hot. Cokes were cold. Gertie was there, and she has obviously been there a long time. She had us try both kinds of hot sauce, one she makes and one the other woman makes. Both are FIRE so don't overdo it. Good though. We tried the apple cake. The cake was BANGIN. She told us "Jim made it..." Also you can write your names on the walls here, so have a sharpie ready. Cheap eats, and very filling.

Look...this is a country store that doubles down as a local diner/ sandwich shop for breakfast and lunch. We had lunch on a pure whim coming off the Blue Ridge. And I can tell you the sandwiches were fresh, made with homemade bread, local farmers ingredients and were good to the last bite. BBQ was fantastic. People from around the world sign their initials on the walls and the place is pure character.
