very beautiful bridge in a completely relaxing, tranquil location! absolutely worth visiting if you are in edam, it is easy to find
This narrow, wooden pedestrian drawbridge is from the 18th century. It's a national monument. The area of the bridge is beautiful, especially the view on the water
Incredibly beautiful canal which you can walk around and experience the relaxing atmosphere present in Edam. Nothing complicated, just a stroll round beautiful houses and nature
Honestly the best experience in Edam is to simply stroll through the town and take it all in. We took a bus from Amsterdam to Edam and wandered through this charming village. We saw a windmill, which is not accessible from the inside as someone actually lives in it. Their old, historic bridges, of which there are several scattered throughout the village, are so cool to see. It's actually quite remarkable that cars can actually drive over them as they don't seem that sturdy. The historic square and cheese market is fun to see. We found the cheese store by the square to be one of the best places to purchase cheese during out trip. Just simply a delightful day trip out of Amsterdam.
Edam is such a lovely little town! We arrived early in the morning and it was so wonderful to wander around this delightful place. The Kwakelbrug was one of the first sites we saw and the views from it are so pretty. Loved Edam!
We took the bus from Central station to Edam. The 1 day ticket allows multiple stops along the route to Edam and Volendam. Interesting scenery along the canals. Other attractions include the cheese market, churches which were not opened and museum in the town center where there is a tourist office in the same building.
