A great place for a late evening pizza or a salad after visiting the church. This place will not win two Michelin stars, but the family that owns it are charming and welcoming, the beer and wine is great, the pizzas are good size for one, and it is part of the places you want to go back to.

We noticed Pizzeria Cesar as we were returning from St. Maria Church to the bay area. Since this was our third week in Spain we thought maybe a pizza would be interesting. We returned the next day and were so glad we did. We ordered a salad and pizza to share. The salad was typically good and the pizza "special" was great with cheese, anchovies and veggies. Now I have avoided anchovies on pizza in the States my whole life but these were great. Although the pizza was on the small size the combo of a salad and pizza was great. We got there just after they opened so we had the place to ourselves. The service was very good with the waiter (owner??) having limited English. We would return to Pizzeria Cesar without problems.

Went to see what this place was like. It's a really nice space in ancient stone built rooms just next to the iconic Sta Maria church in Cadaques.

The pizzas were quite unlike anything we'd ever had before.

For a start they were smaller in diameter but made up for it and some in height!

A very generous and tasty filing of three or four times the depth we were used to made these a full meal in themselves.

The signature desert of flambe'd pancakes were spectacular and again very tasty.

Finished off with a really nice coffee and a strange, delicious and I suspect home made fruit liqueur (as a freebe at the end) made for a very satisfying meal.

If you're expecting a normal pizza and will only be satisfied by a normal pizza, don't go but if you are open minded and adventurous it's all you can ask for.

if you ever feel a yearning for a cellophane wrapped deep freeze pizza, this is the place to head for.
The board outside heralded 'handmade' pizzas but ours were served with masses of oily cheese and sponge bases. Expensive for a half size pizza.Give this place a wide berth.
