“A Great Holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 September 2011

We arrived back yesterday 05th September.

Location.

The hotel is well located for the clean beach and clear water (the beach is cleaned at night). There were bars and shops located around the hotel. We didn't as some people have suggested have any issues with noise at night.

Pool area

The pool area was clean and the pool was also clean, there was the issue with the sunbeds but I have never been anywhere in recent memory where people do not place towels over the beds at breakfast and then wander off for 2-4 hours, its now the norm, the hotels could stop it but don’t as it would offend the people who do this.

Food & Drink

We were on the all-inclusive package booked thru Thomas Cook on a late booking about two weeks ago, I found the food to be a bit varied not really Spanish-English-German, there was always Paella and a mixture of fish and meat based meals available at Lunch and Dinner, the kids section (only available at Dinner) was ok Pasta, Pizza etc. The food was always fresh and plentiful right up until closure so if you arrived late you weren't scratching about. The breakfast was again good and the only thing I would have liked to have seen improved was the sausages which looked like the tinned type. The wine was ok and tasted like it would have been a 3 for £10 at Asda, the beer was Cruzcampo 4.8% and not watered down, local spirits (not branded), soft drinks were Coke & Fanta, and fruit juice was Orange etc.

Entertainment

The team of 4 entertainers were fantastic and worked very hard from the kids club at 1100 right thru to 2330 at night, there were some tribute acts there as well during our week, Tom Jones (fantastic act), Amy Winehouse (good act but I don't like her music) & the Bee Gees (performed by three Dutch chaps, I think, they were being harassed by a English groupie staying at the hotel who thought she could get up at sing with them !)

Rooms

We stayed in a 5 person self catering apartment on the 2nd floor (247) which was very clean and cleaned everyday etc Mon & Thurs, we had a very large balcony also and the A/C worked fine. The towels were changed when the room was cleaned. If I was Self Catering I would find the kitchen a challenge but then if you want to cook on holiday you wouldn't expect your fully fitted kitchen that you use at home to be waiting for you, it’s pretty cheap to eat out €3 for an English breakfast etc.

Overall

The hotel could do with a paint on the outside and maybe tarted up a little but other than that I had a great time and would consider coming back again. The staff were all very friendly. The best bit was the entertainers and the worst bit the bar closing at 2359 !

we arrived late at night to be greated by a deserted hotel, we had to wait twenty minutes for someone to finally come when we checked in we went straight our room on the fifth floor(using lift is requirement with a very long stair walk) the next morning we went down for breakfast and looked around the pool area only to beshocked of the sight that the sunbeds had all been taken by this time it was only 5 pqast eight in the morning the breakfast was all over cooked the eating place was overcrowded the pool was overcrowded because we went half board we had evening meal aswell wen we arrived the olld waiter showed us to some free seats at first he seems nice then he slimly cons you into buying drinks wich you think are out the kindness of his heart. The food was overcooked and boring and also roandom ( Overcooked pasta with marinated cucumber says it all) the room was spacious and free aircon was nice we hired the safety deposit box which was 20 euro for the week 5 of which is returnable. area was noisy and we heard screaming at 4 in the morning the staff were lovely especially pedro the barman always happy to help and did his best to suit peoples needs. the bar is a rip off 1.70 for a plastic cup of coke (which was watered down) etertainment was hilarious but enjoyable the male entertainer was lovely so were the girls i dint appreciate all the kids zapping the entertainers with laser pens when they were on stage. we ate out on the second to last night at the roma resturant best steak ive ever had. linekars bar with all the sport on worth visiting. loads of cockneys and their annoying voices around especially the idiot who won mr soul alcudia center thinking he was a gift ffrom god. for 30 euro we rented the room out till 11.30 as our flight was at 3 in the morning, horrific scent of sewage when walking through the street. rooms were cleaned daily by lovely maids good balcony view over neighbouring hotel overall 6/10

Holiday booked with Jet 2.Good flights despite delays out bound and returning. However the bus journey to and from Alcudia was HORRENDOUS.Jet 2 need to get this sorted. Our arrival at reception was greeted by a woman who had just been robed.Such incidents are fairly common I hear. Our accommodation was basic but very clean and could not be faulted.Rooms cleaned three times a week. The hotels public areas were cleaned daily. The bar service was poor and we felt sorry for those who had paid up front for all inclusive.Bar staff seemed to operating a go slow policy. The restaurant was clean but the food and presentation were poor. The two swimming pools were excellent, the water was clean and warm. However the poolside was dangerously slippy and there were several nasty accidents. One incident led to the Police being called. The Hotel needs to make the pool side area non slip. The Hotel should also increase the number of sun beds and umbrellas there was the normal morning scramble for beds. The children's play area was very poor, swings and that's it.The Kids Club activities were fine and enjoyable and well attended.I don't think any awards will be handed out for the evening entertainment. Bar prices are high for what you get. The beach at Alcudia outstanding, clean white sand and the warmest sea in the Med and its safe for kids.

Room Tip: Rooms over looking the pool are best. you get sun in the morning and shade in the evening

Our room had a pool view, which was lovely, so our early evening routine was to spend time on the balcony - with sangria. The maid was very efficient and friendly , can't fault the cleanliness. Our children were too old for the mini club full time but my eleven year old played chess and the staff were excellent. Good attempts - with good humour were made at getting the lazy over forties off the sun beds!
The only negative thing was that you had to get up early to secure a sunbed.....also didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food. The hotel is nicely located 2 mins from the beach and has a well stocked supermarket. I would have no problem recommending this hotel to anyone, hence the four stars.....thank you Sol Acudia for a lovely week.

Hotel rooms really big, clean but basic, air con really good if you leave it on, our room was 2nd floor overlooking the pool and the balcony was huge, fantastic. Entertainment staff were great, really friendly and good fun. Bar staff not so nice, quite abrupt. Fab pool but by the end of the holiday we were up at 7am to get a sunbed and paying a euro each for pads as the sunbeds were so hard. Food wasn't horrible but was repeated almost daily, not alot for children, no hot dogs or burgers etc like you would expect, my daughter lived on chips and bread. Weather was fab, well into the 30's everyday ( u do need a parasol ). Overall a really great holiday, great location, beach is a 5 minute walk and is beautiful. Try out the sofa ride on the beach it's a scream.
Travelled with my daughter 13 and my friend.
