See my review of August 2016. Still no A/C in the bedrooms which is a pain and would need to be rectified, but the rest of my previous review is accurate. The owners, Toni and Barbara, are just lovely!
We were met on arrival in Porto Colom at the local restaurant Sa Cuina, and shown the way to the villa, as it is a bit tricky to find initially, however we soon got the hang of finding our way.
This is a pleasant, typical Mallorcan rustic cottage on the very outskirts of town near to the archaeological site. Everything was provided including bedding and towels, a washing machine, iron and dishwasher. The Villa is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, and all in good working order if a little worn.
The pool and surrounding garden area is lovely and very private, and we certainly needed the pool, as there was a heat wave when we were there. The only problem we had was sleeping without air conditioning. The fans supplied, although welcome, were not really effective, and were quite noisy in the evening when trying to sleep. I would gladly have paid more, even a daily fee, if air-con had been available. We were unable to leave the windows open after dark due to mosquito activity – take plenty of repellent.
It took 25 minutes to walk at a steady pace to the harbour, and 40 minutes to walk to the nearest good beach at Cala Marcal. A taxi to the restaurants in Cala Marcal cost euro 5.50, and can be booked at the office there. We found the restaurants in Cala Marcal to be more varied and reasonably priced than those at Porto Colom. There are however 2 good Mallorcan restaurants on the main road within a very short walk of the Villa, both were excellent and well priced.
The owners of the Villa were attentive and discreet, and provided a selection of fruit and chilled water on arrival, and a regular supply of eggs from the resident hens, which was a lovely touch. We would recommend the Villa, but be aware that it does get very warm and was impossible to cool it down in the heat we experienced. Would gladly book again should air conditioning be made available.
Situated on the outskirts of Porto Colom this is a well appointed property sitting on a spacious plot. Wi-Fi, satellite TV (German channels only), dishwasher and washing machine; brand new hairdryer as we broke the one supplied! The bedrooms each have a fan supplied but the addition of A/C in these rooms would be welcome as the fans tended to be quite noisy and really only moved the hot air about. The pool is large and well kept. The hammock under the trees was a coveted place of rest during siesta. Whilst you could walk into the town from the villa it would be probably be a 20-30 minute journey for a reasonably fit person. My wife is not that person so I drove whenever we went shopping or for dinner. There is ample on street parking. The owners are a delight and are at the end of the telephone if required.
