As we were fortunate to have another holiday in Portugal, there was no doubt at all that we would be coming again to La Cabane. We were the first to arrive, being slightly earlier than we had hoped, but we were soon seated, being the first, but shortly after, people were coming through the door, which makes for a very good atmosphere, along with a very large party. A lovely touch is the glass of fizzy wine we get first. We always like to have the couvert, so this time, we had the cheese with it. This would make a very substantial meal for a lighter palate. As always, Beatrice shows the specials board, which is very tempting. Melon with Parma Ham and the French Onion Soup were the starters, followed by the Lamb Shoulder with Roasties and Vegetables, and the biggest Steak with Red Wine Sauce and Chips and Vegetables that I have ever had. The Lamb absolutely fell from the bone with very little effort on my wife's part and she enjoyed it immensely. My steak was cooked perfectly, being very tender as well. We don't always have desserts when we have had a big meal, so settled for coffee instead. A lovely bottle of red clinched the meal, then we were taken back to our accommodation by the very accommodating and friendly driver, who remembered not only us, but where we stayed last time. We enjoyed the evening so much, that next time we are in Portugal, this place will be the first on our list of restaurants.
