I have been to Jesolo many many times and happened upon Hotel Cambridge as it is owned by the sister of the owners of Principe Palace, where we have stayed twice.

This is a beach front hotel and if you are lucky, you will get one of the two rooms on the fifth floor.

On our first trip there we booked in advance for the next year, requesting the beach facing room on the fifth floor - the balcony is huge and the room has no others next door (other room on the floor is across the hall) so we had no noise from anywhere!

The room itself has not changed it's appearance on the five occasions we have been there. The shutters on the patio are electric and the patio door opens in so many different ways you almost need a degree to work the thing! (or that might just be us).

We have always found the staff to be accommodating and polite. The fact that there are few staff changes year on year is a good sign that the staff are treated well - no matter what the other reviews say.

Breakfast is held in a lovely open room overlooking the swimming pool. You can also eat the buffet style breakfast on tables outside. It can be a bit crowded, but the tables are always cleared very quickly and food is topped up and replaced, so there is always a choice of breakfasts and drinks.

We did not ever eat lunch at the hotel as the beach bars are fun and the food they serve was clean, fresh, plentiful and reasonably priced.

Dinner in Jesolo hotels is a very regimented affair. Dinner at every hotel is between 7-8pm. Some people do turn up at 7.45 but are discouraged to do so, as the staff really do want you out of there by 8pm. If you prefer a later dinner, you might consider going B&B and going to one of the many restaurants on the strip.

The hotel offers a buffet pre starter which has many different salad type items and breads. The queues for the buffet are as if there will be no other food. But one gets used to this and to be honest, it's worth the wait as each year I have always found something excellent on the buffet which I wish I would have taken more of!

The main meal choices are taken the night before from a choice of about 3 starters and 3 to 4 main courses - we usually forget what we have ordered!

The food in this hotel is superb. If for some reason you do not like the choices on the menu, an alternative can be made (like spaghetti).

I don't the idea of having to pay Euro 3 per sunbed around the pool per day, but all of the hotels seem to do it.

The beach beds and umbrellas are free and yes, you will have to get up at the crack of dawn to beat anyone else to the ones you want!

The hotel attracts mainly Italians, French and Germans which suited us as we wanted to get away from the typical British holiday makers.

We always found the other guests to be polite with no major issues.

The one thing that we just cannot take anymore is the weather as we would always get at least two days of cloud/rain in the 10 night holiday. When the Euro dropped dramatically we felt that taking a holiday costing 30% more for rain was just not worth it. We always stayed at the hotel as private guests, paying in Euros.

None of this had anything to do with the hotel! In my opinion, this is the best hotel on the resort and I have stayed in many here for the past 26 years.

Have recently returned from a week's stay in this very well located hotel. It is in a very pleasant area of the resort right on the beach. We availed of the beach faciities which are very well maintained as was the area around the pool.

The food was very good with a reasonable choice and the staff were very accomodating if there was nothing on the menu to suit. However, the stampede into the dining room at 7pm was off putting and should not be necessary but there seemed to be a feeling that if you did not get in there would be nothing left of the salad buffet which appeared to be justified as this was cleared away very quickly and did not seem to be replenished. The breakfast overlooking the pool was very pleasant.

The bedrooms while well maintained are certainly not 4 star standard being extremely small with very small and hard beds you would certainly not be spending any time in your bedroom.

However, the one thing that I feel let this hotel down was the atmosphere which was not overly friendly or welcoming. There were notices stuck on the lifts and other places about paying the drinks bill and there was also one left in our bedroom two days before we were scheduled to leave. We certainly had no intention of leaving without paying but found the wording of the note unfriendly to say the least. Also, the check out time was very early at 9.30 am and they were totally inflexible in this regard. This atmosphere seem to spread around the hotel as there was rarely anybody using the bar.

I would return to the hotel for its location and food but feel they could certainly improve on their customer relation skills.

have been to jesolo 4 times and this hotel was as good if not beter than the others, plus it was in a great location beside piazza mazzini and on the beach front
there were a mixture of nationalities, the majority of people were over 40 and there were a few familys with toddleres knocking about. I dont think it would suite those who are looking for evening entertainment, pool tables, dart boards etc, but we enjoyed as did everyone we met

meals , may be not to eveyones style but when in rome...
there was a salad buffet, then a 3 course sit down meal, we ate what was on offer and ate well but you aint going to get burgers and chips

breakfast was served beside the pool and was excellent

rooms, compact ,clean and tidy with a side view of the sea and a westerly outlook, good bathroom and great shower, rooms were tidied daily, no complaints there

pool, we did go in early sept and although nice and clean and a good size I thought it was a bit on the cold side, certainly the sea was warmer, plus they was no hand rail at the shallow end to help elderly or disabled

on that subject i dont think the hotel entrance was wheelchair friendly, there were about 8 steps, i think to get in in a wheelchair you would have to go thru the carpark and round the side to the breakfast room and then into the lobby

hotel had bikes, wernt the best but i managed ok, just kept it in low gear and used the front brake

overall we had a great holiday and would certainly go back in the future

My family and I recently stayed in this hotel. Evening dining was not a typical serene italian experience. We were advised that dinner was from 7pm-8pm and we felt it was like a relay race, racing through the courses. First course was salad buffet with people stampeding, in fear there would not be sufficient food if they were delayed. The majority of staff appeared to be nervous with eyes darting from side to side. This hinted to us of bad staff relationships with management.

Rooms were small, very dated but clean and well maintained each day. Location was excellent with easy access to beach and street. Pool side was clean but had to pay a daily rate for loungers. The loungers were very close to the pool side which was very deep and quite dangerous as this was the only pathway from the beach to the hotel.

Italy has a well deserved reputation for their love of children unfortunately the Hotel Cambridge was the exception. One senior member of management was quite rude to children. Children were watching a comedy programme in the lounge early one evening after dinner with their parents in attendance. The TV was promptly turned off and it was strongly hinted that we go to our rooms as we were laughing too loud. We thought this was particularly out of line. When we advised that this was not very polite this member of staff lost her temper. After trying to speak with her for a few moments we stopped and reminded ourselves we were on holiday and walked away.

Claudio and other members of staff on reception were particularly helpful. However, I will not be returning to this hotel and would not recommend it.
