“Stunning Location”

Lovely clean modern restored villa, finished to a very high standard. The villa had everything you would need,The pool and patio are spectacular and our 4 and 6 year old daughters loved splashing around whilst we took in the sun with stunning vistas as a back drop. It is only a 5 minute drive to the main town (Citta di Castello) which has a huge selection of fantastic shops as well as a wonderful market with restaurants and bars lining the streets. A large supermarket is very close which is great for stocking up. I would highly recommend staying here, and we will be visiting again very soon.. We stayed in the apartment last year it was great to be back..

“Duped.....holiday ruined”
Reviewed 20 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Ask for photos of the rear. You’ll see a three-story apartment block under construction barely 5 meters away. Considerable building noise from 8am to 5pm hardly ‘the perfect setting for a relaxing holiday’. We approached the owners seeking an explanation for the failure to honestly represent the property setting. The reply, in writing, ‘it’s unfortunate’ and nothing will be done. Way over-priced if one accounts for the noise blight. We also had stinking sewage smells from the upstairs bathrooms. This was attended to by a plumber but requires a structural solution. If you’re considering renting this property ask for the current status on both issues. Good location for Umbria, but so are plenty of other similar properties.

Management Response
2 Sep 2015
We welcome all customer reviews but it's very upsetting to find ourselves victims of a review that is a complete misrepresentation of us and our property. This guest stayed at our villa for 8 nights, he emailed us after 5 days raising issues with noise and a smell in the bathroom. To say that our reply was "it's unfortunate, but nothing will be done" is an outright lie.
Within one hour of reading the email my builder and plumber arrived at the villa to investigate. At the neighbouring house (which is NOT an apartment block under construction, it's a farmhouse) were local men building a stone garden wall. They explained that they were finishing that day, so there would be no further noise. The smell was a problem with the drain, which was resolved within half an hour. There was certainly no structural work required and I don't remember the guest claiming to have any plumbing qualifications with which to make that assessment! The guest even thanked us for our "rapid responses" in another email.
Here's the interesting part, the guest requested a 50% refund or another holiday at the villa free of charge! We refused (having taken advise from Holiday Lettings the booking agent), however we did return his damage deposit (as a goodwill gesture), despite several glasses and bowls having been broken and a curtain pole pulled down. It seems unlikely that anyone would ask for a free holiday at the same place if they genuinely felt their holiday had been ruined.
We dealt with the issues as quickly as possible achieving a positive outcome and we question the severity of these complaints given that we heard nothing for the first 5 days.
It is very important to us that our guests have an enjoyable holiday and many of our other guests will testify that we go to great lengths to achieve this. We have received fantastic reviews for our villa and apartment Casa Susina (next to Villa Libellula) not only here but on our other websites. We truly hope that this review does not give a false impression of us as owners and our holiday home.

Absolutely fantastic! Loved every minute and what an adventure. Such a great place which looks even better in reality than on the pictures. Gorgeous villa with stunning apartment to the side, surrounded by fields of swaying sunflowers, smiling constantly. What a week we had! Spent the week touring various areas, including Pisa, Florence and Rome to name a few of the larger places. Ideally located to explore the local surrounding area and beyond. This isn't tourist Italy, this is the real thing! Sleeves rolled up, knees deep, up to your neck in it Italy! Exactly what you need to visit this fantastic country and feel like you've done it properly. We wouldn't have wanted it any other way and couldn't have wished for anything better. Food in the local restaurants is great, would recommend Ristorante la Pieve Vecchia - 5 minutes drive from the apartment, great food and reasonably priced. We even met a couple in the restaurant who had come all the way from Rome for Pizza! Monterchi is a great place to see, we visited on the festival day which was great fun, as well as Anghiari - highly recommended and provides a truly authentic feel. The apartment was larger than expected, extremely comfortable and very welcoming - it's probably nicer than our house! Has absolutely everything you need. This review definitely doesn't do it justice. This review wouldn't be complete without a huge THANK YOU to Natasha, Tony, Holly, Jack and of course the lovely Misty. Natasha has even provided a pack in the apartment full of activities, experiences and days out to help get the most out of your stay. Such a lovely family with a very warm heart - we felt like we'd come to visit our own family. Thank you! This was our first visit to Italy, but definitely wont be the last, and the first place we will return to....... Casa Susina, of course!
