I knew the hotel from previous vacations. The Panoramiche room we chose has a perfect sea view: Capri on the horizon. Food is plentyful and of regular mediterranean quality. The thermal outdoor pool is wonderful (36-38°C), but can be crowded at peak times.
This time I did not use the Spa, but all sorts of treatment are possible (fango massage, etc).
Sant Angelo, a small village without car traffic is a little paradise. Tourism there seems to suffer from the economic crisis.

Room Tip: Panoramiche ist the best option

We stayed at this hotel last July. We had travelled over from Cahors in France with our dog, having already established that it was pet friendly. During the 6 day trip we spent two nights at the Excelsior Palace in Rapallo and two at the Palazzo San Nicolo in Radda in Chianti . The Excelsior Palace was the height of luxury and we had a beautiful room on the first floor overlooking the bay; the staff were polite, courteous and extremely helpful; we were particularly impressed with their very positive reaction to our dog, who was allowed in all parts of the hotel open to guests. Food was excellent and the buffet breakfast nothing short of magnificent. We HIGHLY recommend the EXCELSIOR PALACE, RAPALLO for anyone travelling with their dog.
Our stay at the Palazzo San Nicolo in Radda was equally delightful, though very inexpensive ( 109 euros per night for a double room ). Staff were charming, food excellent , and the setting in the middle of the main village street just lovely. Buffet breakfasts very good value for money. Again we would HIGHLY recommend this hotel for anyone travelling with their dog.


1. there was no electricity in our luxury suite and no-one initially knew how to turn on the supply; fortunately we came across a friendly cleaning lady who showed us how it worked
2. despite advertising itself as a dog friendly hotel, we were not allowed to have her in the restaurant; when we suggested we would happily sit at one of the tables on the terrace ( which was co-terminous with the restaurant ) the grumpy head waiter told us that they didn't serve food on the terrace; one of us had to take her back to our suite some considerable distance away
3.on sitting down at our table, we tried to order wine and the rude and grumpy head waiter initially tried to make us order a particular wine ; we refused .
4. I am a vegetarian and as such do not eat meat or fish; when I explained this to the Head Waiter he shrugged his shoulders and immediately told the other waiters that I was vegetarian (senza carne ) . He said I could have the salad buffet, but on checking this huge buffet , there were only 3 dishes without either meat or fish .
5.the Head Waiter did not speak any English; fortunately I am fluent in German, though English is my native tongue, and so we were able to communicate with him. He spoke German and Italian; considering that ALL the public notices in the hotel were in Italian, then English , then German, we found it frankly ridiculous that the HEAD WAITER did not speak any English.
6. the breakfast buffet was reasonable but when we sat down at our table the Head Waiter consistently ignored us and served other guests who arrived after us; fortunately we eventually caught the attention of one of the other waiters who treated us very courteously.

This hotel was an extremely disappointing experience for us, and it is NOT dog friendly

Room Tip: as it is a bungalow style hotel we cannot really add a tip

We stayed for three night at the San Michele and we were immediately overwhelmed by the location, the huge and versatile outdoor relaxing areas and the amazing view from the breakfast/dining terrace.
All this compensated some of the downsides that we experienced during our stay:
- The electric cars that take you to the hotel are a fraud (1 minute drive = 15 Euro)
- The secretary was extremely unfriendly, disengaged and extremely rood to Non-Italians. It's surprising because the hotel owners are super nice hosts, very helpful and supportive. The secretary not only once proved that she didn't know anything about the area, since she couldn't make any suggestions for restaurants and nice running tracks.
- The breakfast is only until 09:45 which is quite early for tourists that want to recover from work
All in all we had a very good stay and I recommend this hotel farther. Hopefully you will be lucky and you meet the hotel owner at the reception instead of the secretary.

How could they just lost our SPA booking? And not a excuse or anything....So bad service over all, if you wasnt Italian or speak the language. The only nice were the room and airconditioning. Even breakfast was a big joke, no information about how to order..so i just sat there i didnt even know that you could order hot meal too. But oh, tables around me got so much service - italian families.
We had the junior svit and even the amount i did pay for that is a big joke if i now compare to was i got from other hotels in the area and in Naples. Warning for being overestimated

Room Tip: Choose another hotel, even to get up there is a big joke....14 E for 1 minute in a kind of golf car. Yes its a "car"free zone, but these golf cars are everywhere in the alleys all the time. And to get straight down to Sant' Angelo...its really straight down and to walk up again is not a pleasent walk.

Fortunately, only you feel our hotel overstimated. The only problem I've had in our hotel was mistakenly booked an appointment at our spa, but even though you have been offered the chance to do the processing later or the next morning, you refused. Your opinion is so overly harsh for what happened, that your review is a drop in a sea of ​​satisfaction.

San Michele review:
My husband and I came to visit the island but were so pleased with the hotel and service that we spent more time at the hotel than originally planned. We had a beautiful sea view room with balcony. The room was very clean, tastefully decorated and offered great amenities- slippers, a robe and great mini bar selection. The staff was very friendly, welcoming and great at remembering details about us. The breakfast was extensive and included a selection of warm croissants, breads, yogurts, fruit mix, meats, cheese, cereals, juices, jams/spreads and much more. The salt water pool was very relaxing and there were plenty of lounge chairs. The sea view and seating from the hotel bar were breath taking. My husband and I are more than impressed with San Michele!
