Was here with family for couple of nights.
Hosts were very friendly and the place itself is comfy enough to enjoy winter activities.
Food prepared by guys is tasty and variety is quite satisfying.
Definitely will stay again if visit Badgastain in future.

As far as location goes, if you want to be in the city centre, but not get all the noise all the time it's the ideal choise for you.

Lia and Thijs are wonderfuly helpful, cheerful and let me tell you, we were a handfull with everything going wrong for us (car breaking down, medical issues etc)and they cheerfully helped us with everything.

The place has the best touches (which are of course on my camera, which broke), like the wooden coffe tables and the comfy lounge, but the place is according to them, constantly being upgraded, which definitly shows.

All in all, once the place is completely refurbished, let me tell you, the prices should go up a ton. Untill then, the price is more than fair for what you get, and is definitly wonderful value for money.

And p.s. Lia any Thijs, we had our fair share of problems, but we actually got engaged up on the viewing thingy so yeeeeey

Stayed for a week in february. Lots of snow, good skiing conditions but simply too crowded on the slopes. If you are going for a skiing vacation in Bad Gastein try to avoid the weeks 7, 8 and 9, where for instance the Danes and the Swedes have school holidays for the winterbreak.
Accomodation is pretty basic and the location is pretty much off the center of the city, which will take you 15 to 20 minutes by walking. The route to the little hotel parking space is narrow, steep and in winter conditions very icey, so to be on the safe side bring your snowchains for your vehicle to be able to make the clime up to the hotel.
We were four persons and had a five persons appartment, glad we weren´t five! The equipment for cooking and dining leaves lots of space for improvement, and even for four people the space was tiny and the bathroom very small.
The best thing about the Chalet Gastein is the staff very serviceminden and very helpful.
Skiing area in Bad Gastein and Bad Hofgastein is very good if not this crowded, but best skiing while we were there was absolutely in Sportsgastein.
There are some options for the after skiing, but again to many danish high school students around in week 7. Skibus stop is wthin five minutes of walking distance.

I can start with the route to this hotel. Disaster ! Do not bother to go to this place with some nice car. You will ruin it, does not matter wether there is spring or winter. Parking area in front of the hotel is only for like 12 cars, so if the hotel is full, it is a big problem, because last two or three cars simply cannot go anywhere (my personal experience). I did not expect Ritz, but rooms for 5 people ? Ok can be. Bed for two people with size like 140 cm ? That is too much. Bathroom ? I was happy to see it working. Old, very old. I hated taking a shower there. Yes, staff was friendly, food ok, plenty of space downstairs, lots of entertainment, games, music, everything. If you are here only for skying and you do not care where you sleep, perfect. If you are tired after whole day and you want to take hot shower, and sit on comfortable bed with ambiente lights in the room, try something else.

Just returned from a stay at Chalet Gastein. Location is somewhat at distance from the city centre as well as the main station. As the bus service in Bad Gastein showed a lot room for improvement that was a challenge being on a skiing trip having to connect to the buses going to the various lifts every day as well as to the centre. OK for hiking trip in summer time.
The apartment was quite spacious (think the space could have been better distributed between rooms though) and had a really nice view. Quality of beds was mixed and disappointing. The kitchen was quite new and nice, whereas the kitchenware was a mixed bag: not a good fit with respect to user requirements as well as number of people living in the apartment.
Service was a mixed experience as well. Staff was generally friendly. However, we learned the first morning that breakfast could not be served before 8.00 in the morning (house rules we were told), which we felt were a bit late. Also, the heating system for ski boots only were turned on during the day, which was insufficient.
In total I would rate the place at 2.5 and not be likely to return when going back to Bad Gastein.
