The building was once a convent and part of the San Francisco Church. Here is told the story of Granada with many cultural items. My favorites were the folk art paintings. These are amazing. There is a lot to see, including an attractive courtyard. Other displays I enjoyed were the scenes and explanations of local festivals. There is a small gift shop inside.

This old convent houses 6 different museums. Some of the displays werent that interesting to me - like the St. Francis de Assissi display - but i really enjoyed other sections, especially the collection of folk paintings from Soltiname. The architecture and garden are lovely - its worth going just to enjoy the space.

This is an ancient convent that now has been adapted to serve as a museum. However, the place need an urgent renovation to fullfill its new function.

The Centro Cultural is located in the sprawling complex of the former Convento San Francisco. There are several lovely interior courtyards with ample opportunity to sit in the shade and linger. The museum houses five different collections; I found the two large galleries with Nicaraguan primitivist paintings very interesting. There also is a collection of large pre-Columbian stone figures from nearby Isla Zapatera--unfortunately most of them are seriously eroded. Overall, a worthwhile place to spend a couple of hours.
