The peacefulness of the beautiful grounds,breathtaking views,food,the spa and the freindly staff are second to none
A slice of heaven here on earth!

I could not complain about the service in this hotel, local people are extremely friendly and doing a good job... but I can not considerate this hotel as a 5 stars, contemporary architecture but with few design mistake ( Basic mistake ) about the pool really bad designed few people can enjoy the sun and too small ( better the pool in my house ) the big and important point ( the breakfast) if you used to deal with the cruiser atmosphere in a eat all you can this your place , really bad organized the terrace stuff not friendly and sometimes rude ... poor quality and very simple ... probably for 16€ per person you can get a better options somewhere but who knows... a four starts hotel atmosphere so not expecting to be in the best hotel, it’s a 4 stars hotel with denomination as 5 stars. Room design and cleaning is correct, atmosphere is mixed , you can find mostly couples stayed to some rude people heading their underwear in the balcony ( probably was only one ) but you can see some people haven’t got good manners
Other point important is the welcome reception ( non welcome ) just a flyer where explain in a funny wait that you have to dress according to the place ( we saw some people having breakfast without T-shirt and not body complaining or someone from the stuff called the attention before I did ) good location for enjoy the beach but remember it’s a good hotel but NOT a 5 stars hotel.

My wife and I had our honeymoon here and overall felt very disappointed. We couldn't fault the friendly staff but for a 5 star hotel there were many imperfections around the place like paint peeling off the ceiling in the bathroom and a sewage smell from the drain in the toilet, towel hooks hanging off the wall, safe not working, mini fridge leaking. Very uncomfortable pillows with the option of renting better pillows which I found a total liberty as we'd paid over £1k for the room and breakfast for 7 nights. The breakfast buffet was OK but the dinner buffet option was a rip off at €35 per person for very average food. Food and drink around the pool bar very expensive, €4 for a bottle of water! Just to top it off on our last day my towel and swim shorts went missing from the pool side when we were having lunch just yards away, so keep an eye on your possessions! This is a 4 star hotel at best and we have no intention of staying there again. I don't expect much of a response from the hotel on this review as when my wife posted her review some weeks ago she got a blanket response regarding the catering and no acknowledgement of the many other imperfections for a so called 5 star hotel. We ended up having a 2nd honeymoon recently in Cyprus to make us feel better, which was fantastic. Be warned!!!

The hotel is really nice and the rooms very spacious and clean, however, there were a few details that needed attention to:

- The staff at breakfast and dinner would sometimes help us find a table, but on busy days, they would just wave us in.
- A tip to the hotel: bring over the drinks bill after people have ordered their drinks. This way your staff don't have to run after them after they have finished their meal and forgot to sign their bill.
- We visited in September and the pools were extremely cold! I only got in the pool once.
- There is no music at dinner (outside) or at the pool which I found extremely odd.
- We were given towel cards upon arrival, but never used them. Every morning, fresh towels are left on the sun-beds for people to use. This was nice, however, people end up leaving their towels behind and it made it hard to locate a free sun-bed when we were a bit late.
- Drinks / water very expensive.
- The hotel is about a 10 min drive from Albufeira (5€-7€ Uber ride). Nothing within walking distance, apart from a restaurant.
- The food was really nice. We went for a halfboard option and we never got sick of dinner. However, they need to do a better job at labeling the food. Labels need to have more info about the food, I was pregnant and had to skip a lot of dishes because I was uncertain of the ingredients.
- The indoor pool and gym are really nice and clean.

In conclusion, very nice hotel but they just need to pay attention to little details and keep their service consistent.

My husband and I are just back from a week's holiday at the Sao Rafael Atlantico and had an amazing time.

When we arrived (shortly before 12pm) we were told our room wasn't ready but they would give us a ring when it was if we wanted to go to pool bar/spa etc, we went to the pool bar for a bite of lunch and got a call that our room was ready not even half an hour later. We had booked the standard room but it was very spacious with a massive bed (which was extremely comfortable - the pillows as well were so comfy) shower was very big inside, room was cleaned every day and new towels given. Air con in the room was also very good. There is a small fridge, we found it in the wardrobe a couple of days after arriving, however it has a mini bar in it - We had bought a couple of bottles of water while in the old town and brought back as was far cheaper (hotel charges €4.50 for 1lt) but we couldn't fit our water in the fridge as it was so small. There is also a safe in the room below fridge.

We only ever ate in the pool bar which was lovely, we ate here every day at lunch time. The 3 pools are great always very clean, there was always free sunbeds around, we found it to be a really relaxing atmosphere.

The beach Sao Rafael is a beautiful walk down from the hotel as well.

The staff were all very friendly.

The only small issue is that the hotel isn't near to any shops/bars/restaurants etc. we ended up getting a taxi into the old town every evening for dinner which was €20 return. The hotel do run a free shuttle bus service but the times aren't great - first bus @ 9.30am, then @ 12.55pm, then one at 16.40 approx if I remember correctly, return buses are 15 mins after these times. We only used the shuttle service once but found it to be more hassle than anything really.

Wi-Fi in hotel is good, worked brill in room, however was a bit touch and go at the pool bar.

All in all we had a fantastic holiday and would definitely return to Sao Rafael Atlantico!
