Owner description: We specialize in the wild ponies! Ask about our Afternoon Pony Tour, available daily. Family friendly nature tours of Chincoteague and Assateague Islands. Our trip combines sight-seeing and a guided tour together. We search for wild ponies, dolphin, bald eagles, sea turtles, sting rays, all manner of wild fowl, and local creatures. We talk about local history, culture, seafood industry, economy, and modern day life. Our signature “Around the Island Tour” covers over 25 miles of coastline, in 2-2.5 hours, never passing the same spot twice. We specialize in taking small groups, on extended trips, into isolated areas. Most trips take 6 guests max, but we’ve added a 33’, 14 passenger boat to our fleet. We run our 33' boat on our afternoon pony tour, and by request for larger groups. Local family owned and operated business by Capt. Dan, his wife Miss Abby, and his father Capt. Ray.

From initial contact with Abby we had great service. Dan scheduled an early trip as we were passing through on a road trip. He was friendly, knowledgable and clearly loves his job - who wouldn't!! A great way to see the islands wildlife and the ponies and waving to the local fisherman. Thanks Dan for helping us unwind and switch off the outside world.

Dan's a cheerful and fascinating guy with considerable knowledge of Chincoteague, including historical information and the natural wonders of the island. Plus, it's a great boat ride and a very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.

Our family of 5 took a morning cruise with Captain Dan this week and enjoyed every minute of this informative trip around Chincoteague led by a friendly native of the island. Our 4-year-old ended up falling asleep, which attests to how comfortable and stress-free the trip was! As we sailed, Captain Dan pointed out landmarks and animals, as you'd expect, but he also shared facts, insights, local color, and personal experiences that gave us a feel for life on Chincoteague. According to his brochure, Dan's cruises are limited to six passengers or fewer, so you can be assured of getting answers to your questions and having an experience that is tailored to your particular interests.

And we saw ponies! About eleven ponies from the Northern Herd came to the water's edge to check us out and pose for photos. Very cool!

Captain Dan is very easygoing and friendly, but we also felt very safe on his tour. His pontoon boat was clean and very comfortable. We brought a small cooler with drinks, because it did get a bit warm out on the water.

The cash price was $30 per person, $25 per child under 11, and we felt we got our money's worth and then some.

This experience was the highlight of our trip. We recommended Captain Dan's tour to friends who later joined us in Chincoteague, and they had a wonderful time as well.

I books boats for 30 people in our group and Dan and his father Ray did not disappoint us. The boats have extra long tops to keep you comfortable under the summer sun (others have one and you don't want to spend 2 hours in the sun and heat). They are clean and have water on board. They both provided excellent information on the islands, we saw the ponies, birds, and other animals and everyone couldn't stop talking about the boat trip hours later. Dan and Ray told stories and had a wealth of knowledge of the area, and recommended places for us to go and tours to take. Thanks Dan for great memories.
