There were a few positives about this hotel-
Location was easy to find and handy for getting around
The pool was quiet
The maintenance man was outstandingly helpful and given that he was clearly run off his feet his help was much appreciated.

Sadly there were far too many negatives for me to consider ever returning here:-

Our room was so dark it required full lighting at all times - so depressing
It was damp - bed linen was damp to touch and after sitting on the armchair my jeans were damp.
The air con emitted the most foul musty smell when in use
The bathroom was so small it wa totally non functional - a tiny ledge for toiletries is woefully insufficient.
The "complimentary" toiletries had clearly been used by a previous guest and not replenished - no soap on arrival and no soap next day either, really?
The fitness room equipment was rusted and some of the weight machines could not be used due to the rust. The floor of this room was absolutely filthy.

The breakfast was chaotic, on both days of a 2 day stay items ran out and staff advised they had no more. The explanation was that guests had eaten more than expected - at 8am when breakfast only started at 7 I found this astonishing- no decaf coffee, no bread, no "standard black" tea, no cinnamon buns.
The heating plates for the cooked items are clearly not working as they should. By 7.30 the sausage and omelettes were cold and inedible.

The guest laundry dryers machines did not work - they accepted cash however did not operate. This is where the maintenance man stepped in to offer to dry my laundry in the hotel dryers. The only member of staff to show any kind of proactive attitude. I didn't catch his name but a real credit to the hotel.

The whole episode showed complete lack of management input and quality assurance to the most basic of items.

Could not recommend at all.

Gill68,

I am so sorry you were disappointed with your experience. We typically receive very positive comments about our hotel and your recent stay is very concerning to us. At any time during your stay were you able to bring any of these issues to the front desk agent's attention? We strive to offer the very best guest service with clean, comfortable accommodations at an affordable rate and our goal is to ensure every guest leaves satisfied. Again, I do apologize for your recent experience and I hope that you would consider giving us another chance in the future. Thank you for providing your feedback.

Sincerely,
Stephanie Parker

Checking in was easy and quick .
Someone had been smoking in our allotted room (even though it’s not allowed )but it was quickly changed without any hassle.
The room is clean and well equipped with microwave and fridge (I love America ).
Nice pool and small well equipped gym downstairs which opens at 5am ,just take your room key and a towel from your room .The pool is big enough for lengths .
Breakfast is buffet which is fine .
Sadly no onsite catering so you have to go out to find an evening meal but we were handed a list of eating places when we checked in .
All in a nice hotel with good facilities and I had a good nights sleep on both nights .
I would stay here again .

Stayed two nights at HIE-Springfield: 7/13 as a 5K +$88.00 Point and Cash reward night, and 7/14 as a 15K point reward night. We have stayed at this hotel multiple times previously since it is the best lodging in the area. The older 2 story hotel is just off the freeway on the main road into Springfield. There is good external signage and plenty of parking available. It is a rural area but near a gas station and convenience store. You'll have to drive several miles to get to a decent restaurant.

We got there early but the staff was very accommodating and found us a clean 2Q room. From previous stays, we knew one section of the hotel does not have an elevator so we requested the side of the property with a single clean elevator near to get to the 2nd floor. The front desk person was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. She provided a list of restaurants in the area and made recommendations based on her experience and that of previous guests.

Access to our large 2Q room was via a standard badge reader. No issues with door alignment or lock hardware. It had all expected amenities including a mini-fridge and large TV. Power outlets were available between the beds on a smallish night stand. WIFI was easy to access and stable. The HVAC had knob type controls on the unit and worked well, but there were lots of clicking sounds throughout the night as relays opened/closed.

Beds were comfortable with 4 pillows and clean sheets. The bathroom was typical size with a smallish granite counter space for your stuff. Shower had good water pressure. There were plenty of clean towels. Everything in the bathroom worked well as designed.

Coffee was available early, but by 7:30a the typical food service struggled mightily to keep up with guest demand.

Hey, I expect we will be back again on our next trip to the area.

We stayed here as I was doing a half marathon in the area. It was very clean from front desk, lobby to rooms. It was a quiet room and the breakfast was great. The kids loved the activity room (pool table, video games) and the pool. The staff was friendly and followed up on my requests. We had adjoining rooms for more room with kids and it was so comfortable and a very quiet nights sleep. Highly recommend!

I stayed with family this past weekend. We had a wonderful time with our small family members who enjoyed the pool area all weekend.
The room was clean and perfect in every way.

Great to see service with a smile when you arrive at a hotel and that smile lasts the entire stay.

Room Tip: Near pool if traveling with groups with small children
