Attended a business event at the Essex and immediately realized that this is the type of property you take an extra day to enjoy once work is done. The buildings and rooms were spacious and well maintained, the surrounding property was beautiful and expansive. Offers a spa and cooking classes, which I didn't have time to enjoy but will make a point to return.

We gathered for a "girls only" weekend-the 3 of us. We had a suite which allowed us to cook in the room. I was incapacitated/on crutches but would have gone in the hot tub but the battery on the lift device was dead, did however get into the indoor pool as that lift did work. Eating utensils only accommodated 2 people but was spacious enough to seat/sleep 4. Everyone of the staff was very helpful & kind. Lovely place to stay as a getaway from the city.

I stayed 2 nights at the Essex Resort and Spa to attend a wedding at the Ponds at Bolton Valley, which is owned by the hotel. It is a beautiful hotel with lovely, very clean rooms and comfortable beds. We stayed in the main building. They have a gorgeous indoor pool, tennis courts and fire pits in the evenings. They also offer cooking courses, which those who took them raved about them. They have a very nice restaurant, a tavern that serves food and a great bakery with very rich, delicious pastries and sandwiches. Free local shuttle service. Pet friendly hotel. The wedding they did at the Ponds was lovely in a serene country setting.

The location and grounds of the Essex are ideal.
The room was very clean and the King bed was somewhat comfortable. The contemporary pictures on the wall were of a gigantic egg slicer and food, which were not very appealing to view. The gardens at the resort are beautiful and the weight room and Spa are top notch!

An exclusive hotel that is not necessarily the most suitable for one night only, but more suitable for a pleasant weekend, where you can pamper yourself. Nevertheless, we found the stay cozy. Unfortunately, we did not use the hotel facilities, but ate both dinner and breakfast at the hotel's pub / tavern.
