Very good food - great staff - of course there's the beer which is reason enough to go - but get the onion rings. Best I've ever had !

Living in the area, we have been visiting the Long Trail Brew Pub for many years. Conveniently located between Rutland or Killington and Woodstock/Interstate 89/91 intersection, it offers great beer(s) and excellent pub fare. Whether stopping in to enjoy warm fire after skiing or as last weekend, enjoying the sunny deck stream side, it's a great place to enjoy a pint, burger or even hummus. And an because the expanding beer selection is offered from environmentally friendly production, it's worth supporting the great microbrew. One caution, be smart and designate a driver.

While waiting to sit, the popcorn was freshly popped and not overly buttery. High marks for this. The "tasting" room which consisted of a bar with cocktail waitresses was a bit dirty, and the bathroom floor was soaked and a disaster - not really sure why. The beer flight was OK, there was some experimental craft in the selection that never hits stores, nor should it. It was disgusting, likely the most vile beer I have ever tasted - why would you even serve it? Their other regular beers were as usual solid choices, and tasty. We were called for outside seating which was nice since there was a great view of the river and was lovely weather. We ordered the jalapeno cheese bread, tasty but expensive for bread with some spread. I ordered a hot dog and fries.. fries were nothing special at all, like ore-ida. My boyfriend had the lamb sausage sub which was pretty average. I had hoped for a little better and was told to order bratwursts.. evidently these are no longer on the menu? The server was matter of-fact, not super friendly.

Long Trail Brewery has alot to offer. In addition to the Brewery, the food is very good and affordable and the servers are more than friendly. Plenty of tender shrimp in the shrimp taco entree! Grab a seat outside by the river if you can - order some food and beer samplers (this way you don't have to choose just one beer) - doesn't get any better than this.

While in Vermont for a wedding, we wanted to take a brewery trip. Long Trail won out because it was closer to where we stayed in Rutland. The brewery itself was just a room but the atmosphere of the pub was great. It would definitely be somewhere I would hang out if I lived nearby. We went for a Sunday lunch and the surrounding scenery was so beautiful and tranquil. We sat outside along the water. The beer selection was a lot of fun- quite a big variety at pretty good prices. I had a pint of Pumpkin ale for about $4. The food was basic pub food but tasty. I had a turkey and Cabot cheddar cheese sandwich on ciabatta bread which was very good and came with fries, cole slaw and a pickle ($9). The service was great and the people working were super friendly. They had a really nice little shop where you could buy beer, t shirts, cups etc. The Imperial Pumpkin while expensive was worth trying and you could buy a bottle (or case). Also if you have a dog, you can tie them up outside of the eating area. Definitely worth a side trip if you are around.
