My husband and I stayed at the Chaska House on Jan 3, 2010 (Hemingway Retreat Suite 1 - just across the street from the B&B) for a romantic night out. What a wonderful, romantic evening we had! The suite is absolutely beautiful, and although in a residential area, there is a feeling of seclusion due to the carefully planned landscaping. You are also within walking distance to the world famous Catfish Plantation Restaurant. The Chaska House hosts are delightful - we enjoyed conversing with them over the delicious breakfast they serve. We were also given a tour of the Chaska House, as there were no other guest there during our stay. I want to go back and stay in each one of the rooms. If you have any doubts about staying at the Chaska House, remove them. Both the house and the retreat are warm, inviting, and hold so much charm, you'll want to stay another night. We'll definitely be back!

I have stayed at many bed and breakfasts and I love the new decor at the Chaska House the best! It has recently been redone, but still has the feel of a lovely home that has evolved over time with its many interesting collections and antiques. The mansion has beautiful architectural features and the rooms are quite large. The brand new private bathrooms are luxurious and spacious. Be sure to ask about the Secret Room- what a delight!

Linda and Louis are great hosts and really know how to make someone feel at home. The breakfast is fabulous.
Treat your sweetheart to a relaxing stay there.

We recently spent a night at the Chaska House in Waxahachie, Texas. This rates as one of our best B&B experiences. All the basics were above criticism -- the room was immaculately clean, the bed and other furniture were comfortable, the breakfast was delicious, and the hosts charming. That is only the beginning. The house is extraordinary. The collections displayed in the public rooms interesting. The guest rooms are named and themed for various authors. We stayed in the Margaret Mitchell room. The decor was very much Tara but tasteful. This is the only guest room on the ground floor. The second floor rooms were completely rebuilt a few years ago. We had the opportunity to tour the unoccupied rooms. They are interestingly themed, beautiful, and more luxurious than the Margaret Mitchell room. If you want to spend a very pleasant night or two in Waxahachie, try the Chaska House.

Waxahachie is small town with many B&B's and I think the Chaska House is one of, if not the best B&B in Waxahachie. The hosts are so sweet and hospitiable and we never felt uncomfortable or uneasy while we were there. When we arrived, only one other guest had checked in so the host took the time to show us the other rooms and gave us some history about the home. The house is 100 years old, but the owners have completly renovated the house and made some major repairs and changes to suit its use as a B&B. Every room has a theme inspired by a great author (we stayed in the 1920's style F. Scott Fitzgerald room), and all the bathrooms are newly renovated with a shower and a tub. The rooms are beautifully decorated and everything is simply emaculate! We never heard the people next door to us and we felt like we were there all by ourselves, even though they were completely booked. They have cable TV, DVD players and wireless internet, so you can still be in touch with the modern world. The breakfast was great and we just wished we could have stayed longer than one night! Great experience!

We stayed in one of the Hemingway cottages for a weekend in 10/04 and had a very relaxing, enjoyable time. The cottage was very nicely furnished and the bathroom was HUGE! It was nice to be away from the city (we live in Dallas) and have some peace and quiet to sleep, read, watch TV, and relax. I would highly recommend The Chaska House.
