We went to La Parilla, now called La Antigua, looking for the best Mexican food in town while on the Texas coast. They were packed with locals, but did not have to wait for a table. Their servers literally trotted to keep up. The beef fajitas were not as tender as expected, but did have a good flavor. A snapper and shrimp dish was excellent. The salsa is thin - no chunks, but had a pretty nice flavor. Tortlla chips were yummy enough to enjoy alone! Having tried countless guacamoles across the U.S., I'd rate theirs a 6 out of 10. Would definitely visit La Antigua again to try other entrees. A stuffed fried whole avocado went by that looked amazing!
