Many of the hundreds of energy saver bulbs on the ceiling are wonky or blown out---an eyesore.
Furniture design look bit old(the last pharaoh might have had them this way)
Mattress is bit on harder side
In spite of all the above cons, I give this hotel top marks for:
Excellent location with beach on one side and high street with designer shops on other.Room key operated gate access to beach. Hard Rock Cafe adjoins the property on the high street side.
Friendly staff and clean rooms, strong wifi everywhere,free safe locker, wide range of menu, very cordial restaurant staff.
Live and bubbly neighborhood in "American" theme .

The Resort in itself is great, great staff, food, service . Beautil view from Cleopatra sea view rooms. And great location. :-)
The rooms are veryold and run down, things are falling apart , so for the price of this hotel. You can easily get a luxury room somewhere else for the same price if you book early( this year 164 euro a rom sea view, next year 200 euro per room sea view )
The problem is that Tenerife is fuillbooked now and the hotels can take the prices they want , regardless of the room standards , but when that will change they will have a problem with this prices, so I hope they will do something about this.
First visited this hotel 17 years ago when it was relatively new. Nothing has changed and the wear and tear of the years are showing. The bedrooms have very little drawer storage and the bathrooms have still got the same baths/sinks etc. The bath in the room that we stayed in this visit had a damage to the enamel that was approximately 8 cm by 5 cm and had been very roughly painted with cream paint. The cap for the overflow kept falling off. There was ingrained grubbiness to the wall and floor tiles. The public areas have a number painted areas, particularly the balustrades of stairs with a numbered layers of flaking paint and many of the mirrored walls and columns have cracks particularly at the bottom where they have been bumped over the years.
At first glance the hotel and rooms seem reasonably clean but when I spilt water on the floor in our bedroom and used tissues to wipe up the tissues were grimy with dirt.
For two days there was limited access to the pool area because of an event that the hotel was hosting. We were told if we wanted to sunbathe we could do so at the Mediterranean Palace. Had we wanted to use the Med Palace we could have booked to stay there at a cheaper rate. In addition, the pool area at the Med Palace was already over crowded. We chose the Coleoptera because we prefer that pool area. The hotel did not let visitors know of the limited access when customers booked holidays. Shows a lack of management’s regard for visitors to their hotel.
Positives are the staff are very friendly and helpful and the hotel is in a great location.
Will not stay again until this hotel has been refurbished and this does not seem to be imminent. A shame because has the potential to be a great place to stay. So disappointing.

As you can read in other reviews, we are aware that the hotel needs a change and for this we are working in a reform plan since 2012. The reforms of a complex of this size, we understand, should be done in stages to try to affect, as little as possible, guests and can thus guarantee a pleasant stay in Tenerife. At the Hotel we have a technical service that comes in as soon as possible to fix those faults that may occur in the rooms, so we ask you please to any small incident that you found in your room is transmission to reception. . We are working on the design of the new rooms that we intend to refurbish soon. Although the exact dates are not still scheduled, I can confirm that changes will be made, certainly for positive.

Stayed at the Cleopatra Palace for 2 weeks in Oct 2017 on a bed & breakfast basis, this is the third time we have stayed at this hotel. The location of this hotel is great and is in the heart of some great restaurants and bars, the staff are fantastic and really helpful, the breakfast is also great with plenty of choice. However the hotel is in serious need of an update as it is now looking a little tired.
Brilliant! Clean and super efficient, helpful staff. Brilliant breakfasts...we stayed B&B this time but half board last time. Evening meal gives you a huge choice. Clean communal areas. Great use of Mediterranean facilities busy pool / suitable for children ,cleopatra has a quieter pool area
