Cleopatra Palace Hotel
Reviewed 6 January 2013

Apologies for the lateness of the review but better late than never!!
We visited the Cleopatra Palace in October 2012 for the half term holiday. The hotel itself is ideally located right next to the beach and promenade and forms part of the Mare Nostrum Resort. It is a large hotel and offers good quality facilities. The rooms are of a good standard and allow sufficient space for a short stay at the hotel.
Our room overlooked the pool area and was very close to the nearby main road (the Pyramid end of the complex). I mention this so as to assure that little noise can be heard from the main road during the course of the night, so does not impact on sleep!
We only booked Bed and Breakfast so can only comment on the quality of the food selection in the morning...which was good. The usual 'breakfast buffet' issue of lukewarm food did raise itself but, generally speaking, it was refreshed often enough to be quite enjoyable.
The hotel is located well for a walk along the promenade to either Los Cristianos or Playa de Las Americas. On a nice day these are both walks well worth doing.
The weather was not kind this October (despite being glorious at the same time in 2011) so an element of the holiday itself was spoiled. Due to the bad weather we did use the indoor Spa facilities (16 euro entrance fee per person to use the indoor pool and lounge area). It is quite a lot but was worth doing because the weather was shocking for 2 of the days we were there.
The hotel's best feature is its style and location. Many other hotels nearby appear to be of a similar standard but this has a 'Grand' feel. Overall, the hotel delivers!
I would go back to this hotel and would recommend it to others too!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool are generally nice!

We stayed for 4 nights over New Year and had a fantastic time. The New Years Eve Gala Dinner was fantastic, with good food and great entertainment, it was lavish and memorable.
The restaurants were good and the food was varied and excellent. We look forward to staying at Mare Nostrum again.

Room Tip: Pool view in the Cleopatra will be quieter.

Just returned from 10 days stay at this hotel, our first time and we will definitely go back. The gala dinner on Xmas Eve was great and the Gala dinner on New Year's Eve was amazing. We had a wonderful time. The hotel is ideally located in a very nice part of Las Americas, its very clean, the staff are very efficient and courteous and nothing is too much trouble. We only stayed bed & breakfast but the choice of food available and selection and quality was everything you could expect from a 4 star hotel and catered for all nationalities. The New Year's Eve gala dinner was spectacular with excellent food and fantastic entertainment.
We hope to return again next Christmas and New Year.

Room Tip: Higher floor overlooking pool area towards the seafront end of the hotel as opposed to the main road...

As a group of six we stayed over the Xmas and new year period we have stayed at this hotel
Before and found it had maintained its standards, the staff were friendly, efficient and very helpful.
The New Years Eve Gala was brilliant and I would thoroughly recommend it. Their was no expense sparred and every aspect was top class. Having been to many top class venues for New
Year in the Uk I can honestly say this was far better.

Room Tip: We have stayed in 3 different rooms in the cleopatra and all have been good, the sea views are gre...

The hotel complex is spectacular and its location is superb. If it was managed with attention to customer service then it could be great. The breakfast was really good with plenty of fresh fruit as well as breakfasts suitable for all nationalities and I was glad to find a machine which could squeeze oranges for fresh orange juice. Really the only let down for the hotel was its reception/customer service as the staff there did not seem to care about their clients and it came across loud and clear which put on an unnecessary dampener on our holiday. We stayed on a bed & breakfast basis so did not try the evening dinner as it was quite expensive and did not look great (not the same quality ambience as other five star hotels we have stayed in but more like a buffet restaurant). The security cards that unlock the side gates give an air of safety and allow easy entry/exit along the beach front or towards the shops.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the nightclub if you prefer a quiet stay.
