Just recently got back from our third time at this resort, and genuinely the food and the entertainment are worse this year, not what it once was, what we were so sold on a few years ago when we first attended. S.Ponsa still a fantastic area that fits our needs and our preferences, probably changing hotel whenever we return next time.

Having spent 10 days at Jutlandia in Santa Ponsa there are a range of really positive things and some not so that I thought it might be useful to share.

Jutlandia is a very family orientated hotel. It is a very short walk from the start of Santa Ponsa shops and 5mins from the beach.

Pools were nice and good to have the mini water park /slides for the children. I can honestly say that the lifeguard was one of the most eagle eyed lifeguards I’ve ever seen... he patrols the pools properly (looking out for dangers/issues). Very good.

Kids club. My eldest went in a couple of times during our stay but didn’t spend much time there. He did watch a movie there one afternoon and enjoyed the big screen, darkened cinema style experience with popcorn.

Reception. They were very accommodating, fulfilling our request for a ground floor apartment away from the entertainment which was good. We were also able to loan a pushchair from reception for €20 deposit which was excellent. We also managed to get our hands on the very rare but very helpful baby stair gate - all of the apartments have balconies or terraces which lead to either a stairwell or straight to the pool areas. Ours lead to the pool and with two toddlers we needed this to help keep them safe. There aren’t many of them though so ask when you arrive (or beforehand) and hopefully you might get one at some point on the holiday. The only downside we felt was the additional costs for things such as the safe €40 euros for 10 nights is a significant amount of money for a safe. Also you had to leave a deposit for things like the TV remote.

Apartment. The apartment was well kept, clean and had modern fittings. That’s where the positives end I’m afraid. Although we were in a quiet part of the resort, the paper thin walls and particularly patio door meant that anyone passing by disturbed the person in the living room. Having one small bedroom at the back of the apartment meant that one adult, one child and a cot could fit in but one of us parents was always on the sofa bed. If we were all able to fit in the bedroom at the back I suspect it might have been much quieter. Another downside was the size of the living room and kitchenette In all the pictures on the website it looks much bigger than it actually is. We didn’t cook at the apartment as we only had a couple of pans and a microwave so it was hard to make anything meaningful with little kitchenware/appliances. Having said that, we ate in our apartment for breakfast and made lunches to eat out. Many people were all Inclusive so this wouldn’t at all be an issue if you were using this option.

Evening entertainment. We went to the mini disco quite a few times (the entertainers work hard and my sons loved it) but we felt that the main entertainment was late compared to some other hotels. For example, the advertised start time of a children’s parrot show at Jutlandia was 10pm whereas a neighbouring hotel had the parrot show visit them and it was an 8.30pm start. The mini disco at Jutlandia starts at 8.30pm whereas many other places it was 8pm. Fine, if you have older children but with the main shows (where they are appropriate for kids) being so late starting, we didn’t make it to any at our hotel.

Santa Ponsa itself was a good place to visit as a family. We enjoyed the beach which was sandy and safe. The atmosphere is one of a family friendly place and we liked it.

Majorca. We have been to the island many times before so didn’t venture too far on this holiday. We did visit marineland, but as the weather was poor (raining on and off all day) we didn’t make the most of it - it has a private beach and children’s pool area. We therefore only spent about 3 hours there. Not great value considering the entrance cost. We did, however, make a day of it by walking the 5 min walk down to Puerto portals to look around the yachts and shops.

All in all we had a lovely time. We probably wouldn’t come back to Jutlandia (only because we are used to more space in our apartment and a bit more of a kitchen) but the hotel itself was lovely and modern, clean and welcoming and exceptionally family friendly.

All in all, apart from the rainy and mostly cloudy weather, we had a lovely holiday and would consider Santa Ponsa again.

If you have children with you this is great. Good entertainment, very clean and well ordered. Near the main areas but not surrounded by nopise. Only weakness was food was not too varied and a bit pricy, but good restaurnats within easy walking distance, even for kids. Very much recommended.

We were here for a week at the end of May as a family of 4 and had an absolute ball. This hotel was perfect for us, the apartments were a good size and spotlessly clean. The sofa beds weren’t the most comfortable but the actual beds were very comfy. The apartment was equipped with all you needed and towels were changed everyday and sheets once during the week. The pools were fab for kids, especially the splash pool and we always got sun beds no matter what time we went down at. One of the entertainment team did entertainment round the pool during the day which my kids loved. The location of the hotel is perfect, a few mins walk to bars, shops and restaurants. We walked to the strip every night and even walked up to the square one night. Overall we had a fantastic holiday and we will most definitely return!
