“Lovely peaceful spot for a family break!”
Reviewed 17 April 2019 for a stay in April 2019

We stayed here with our two young boys (aged 7 & 4) during early April, for 1 week.

Sarah was really helpful in providing lots of information before we arrived, so that I could prepare fully (this was our first flying holiday with the boys), and very flexible about check-in, etc.

We arrived to a clean, comfortable apartment in a peaceful area, which was easily accessed via the train from the airport, and an uber taxi. I should state at this point that the situation of the apartment is such that having a pushchair would be almost impossible, but for our mobile boys the steps & slopes were not a problem. Sarah’s representative (Sarah 2!) had ensured that there were provisions for us to make a cup of tea/coffee, which was hugely appreciated after our journey!

The apartment is well stocked with all the essentials, and lots of thoughtful items to make your stay comfortable, including an excellent information folder which comprises of local travel, dining and entertainment info. There is also information about the various appliances in the apartment, which explains some of their little spanish quirks, as well as a full folder with official instructions for things.

The view from the apartment is beautiful, and the outside furniture very comfortable.

The beds, as well as the sofa bed are very comfortable, and the bed linen clean and of good quality. There is a bath, which we appreciated for the children, and although the hot water is limited, it does re-heat quickly so we were all able to bath/shower when we wanted to, as long as we timed our turns correctly. The beach towels & picnic equipment (tupperware, bottles and small cool bag) were fantastic for us, as we took packed lunches to the beach each day, and we also found a few little items for the boys, such as a Frisbee, inflatable ring and a body-board, which they loved!

We were very disappointed to find that the pool was not open during our stay due to a fault, which could not be helped. However, we found lots of other things to do as the area is full of opportunity to entertain the children (albeit more expensively than chilling by the pool with a packed lunch!). We visited the aquarium in Benalmadena, the marina, the Butterfly park & Buddhist stupa, the beach & park in Fuengirola, and various restaurants. The beaches are great, and we loved the Kalifato chiringuito at Carvajal beach, as well as the Harley beach sunbeds at Fuengirola, both of which were incredibly friendly and welcoming.

The apartment is on a steep hill up from the beach & town. The walk down is pleasant, and you can go down through the park to let the children have a little play. The park has a lovely view also. The beach, bus stops and restaurants, etc are easily reached from the apartments via this steep downhill walk. However, our boys were always too tired to even attempt the walk back up, so we always used an uber taxi to get home each day. This was very affordable, around 3.50 Euro.

The main supermarkets (Carrefour & Aldi) are at the top of the urbanisation, and this is another steep climb. We walked this on the day we arrived, in order to stock up, but had we realised how long & steep it was, we would have got an uber! Later in the week, my husband did the journey alone as it was just a bit much for small legs. Again, there are clear directions for this in the info folder, and also a very handy wheeled crate to get your provisions back down the hill!

At the top, by the carrefour, there is a lovely Italian restaurant where we had great pizza, and the seafood salad was delicious.

In terms of holidaying with children, this is a great area with lots to do and see. Getting around is easy enough thanks to great transport systems, and the amazing Uber; however, if you have mobility problems, or need to use a pushchair, then this apartment may not be the easiest due to the steep slopes and steps. The apartment itself is great for families, it’s in a peaceful spot, and there are facilities such as a highchair, travel cot, etc for use if needed. Sarah 2 is great, and easily contacted if you need some help.

Our stay at Casa Christabel was lovely, and we really appreciated all the thoughtful touches which made things easier for a holiday with small children. We will definitely be back, but this time when the pool is open so we can be more economical!

Some of the reasons I picked this apartment was because it has a bath not just a shower & an extra large bed! I wasn't disappointed! It's a lovely clean spacious apartment with everything you could need for a relaxing holiday...the bathroom is very clean, the big bed is really comfy & all towels including beach towels are provided. There's a nice terrace complete with BBQ & lovely relaxing chairs, perfect for catching the sun. It's just a short walk through the gardens to the pool which is clean & well maintained. We didn't hire a car as we didn't think it necessary but the walk up to the apartment is quite a steep one so if your not too good on your legs a car might be helpful! Great communication with Sarah the owner throughout the booking and holiday. I would definitely recommend this apartment. Thanks again Sarah for a lovely holiday.
