We met these guys one evening walking along the promenade and just liked them, after a chat about options we found out the boat was free for private hire in a few days time so decided to do that. It meant we could chose where to stop which meant we could avoid places with too many boats. As a private hire they could cater for food preferences and we had a quick chat about options. To be honest we expected a bowl of pasta.

The weather was beautiful the day we went out with Shaun and Lucia and they are really wonderful, professional and friendly hosts. Having the boat to ourselves meant we could move around - stay in shade etc. We sailed out and looked at a few coves - Shaun asked were we’d like to stop and we agreed to keep going to find a peaceful place. I prefer sailing to motor boats - it’s very relaxing and Athena is a really wonderful boat.

We stopped in a quiet cove and husband loved the swimming. Then came lunch... Lucia had prepared two types of tuna tartare, mussels and then squid pasta - plus all sorts of nibbles. It was beyond expectations and delicious. They had also chilled sparkling wine and Shaun brought out his homemade limoncello.

The 8 hours melted away, it was a truly memorable trip and something we hope to repeat one day. Oh and Lucia even took some photos (which we really like) and sent them to us afterwards!

We had the luxury to private hire Athena, as a couple.

It’s hard to explain how perfect our day was but without doubt, this perfection was made by the very well maintained and kept 40ft sail boat that Athena is and the effortless attention to detail and customer focus, shown by Lucia and Shaun.

Their ability to sail and their local knowledge can not be bettered, due to the countless years of combined sailing experience and local knowledge (Shawn is Sardinian).

Being blessed enough to private hire was a very special experience and we defiantly made the right choice (there are many choices) - my mind keeps drifting back to that day, a very special memory was made.

I imagine that a standard hire would have been good but for the private hire, the team obviously further increased the standard of food and drink, which was exceptional, so fresh and without compromise or quantity (not even sure how it was possible, in a galley kitchen, apparently it was by magic!).

I strongly recommend that if anyone wants to sail out of Palau, then Athena and team are the right choice.

If you are blessed enough to private hire, you won’t be disappointed and it’s value for money, when you consider how priceless memories are!

Very nice boat, great hosts, beuatifull weather, fantastic small beaches, super lunch.
If you only go sailing once when you are on Sardinia, this is the one you should do .
Well worth the price !

Sail fast, live slow.... the slogan of Athena Sail....And that is exactly what we did on this sunny sunday in the Maddalena archipel. A beautiful sailing boat, a turquoise blue sea, white sand, little spiaggias, food, wine, home made limoncello and the great hospitality of Lucia And Sean were the ingredients of this very nice trip. We enjoyed it a lot, especially because of the small group of people on board, which gave it a more personal touch. Thanks Lucia And Sean! Grtz Sabine and Cornelie

We are a Spanish family with 3 kids (19, 15 & 13). We enjoyed sailing with Lucía & Sean in La Maddalena and its small surrounding islands. They are great (...and Irene on the port!). They took us to small beaches that there is no way to get to know if no one takes you there. Enjoyable the lunch as well that Lucía cooked for us on the boat and Sean’s house made limoncello.
Definitely: do not miss to live the Athena’s experience if you are near Palau!
