When it was open prior to Hurricane Harvey, Reef was one of the top seafood restaurants in the city. My understanding is that the partnership between Chef Bryan Caswell and Front-of-the-House Manager Bill Floyd has been terminated, and that Reef will not re-open.

Bryan Caswell has taken over the kitchen at Oxbow 7, the new restaurant at The Meridian Hotel.

Reef is the kind of place that meets all your expectations about restaurants in the Houston area. Fantastic food, service and atmosphere are always there for enjoyment. I would highly recommend the Reef.

It's the first and only Caswell restaurant I have been too, but if its any indication of the others (El Real, Jackson Street BBQ, Little Big 5) I would try them all. The menu is only fresh fish and caught from the gulf. The wine list is superb and a very small mark up make pairing a delight. This is the only restaurant I can remember that actually wants you to enjoy a bottle of wine by making it affordable. The tuna I had was mouth watering (bad use of the term now that poor Houston is under water) delicious. Fresh and served with a wonderful wasabi type sauce that was delicious. Great service and nice atmosphere. Definitely would return.

Chef's preparations never fail to amaze. There is no finer way to enjoy fresh, especially raw, seafood.
