Description: In Manhattan in 1965, there was no place where people could go out to meet friends and make new ones in an environment that was at once both relaxed and yet exciting. Then, Alan Stillman opened Fridays as a way, he said, "to meet Pan Am stewardesses." Suddenly, there was a place with great food, new and exciting drinks and an electric energy. A place where bartenders mixed the environment just as well as they mixed drinks. In short, a place like nowhere else. Today, Fridays in Houston, TX is still America's most iconic bar and grill. We embrace and celebrate our heritage as a bar. One that just happens to serve killer food in an environment where it's always Friday.

Had dinner the other night and it wasn't bad. Had the Parma-crusted chicken with a small but good side of tomatoes along with mac/cheese. Good service and not bad food.

We stopped at this restaurant for a quick meal on the way to see a movie. When we entered, there were a few people. We were in a hurry so we ordered something simple - a burger and a chicken sandwich. After our order, a big group came into the restaurant. That was probably the problem. We didn't see our waitress again. She was catering to the big group - maybe to get a big tip. When our food finally arrived(served by another waiter) the meat was warm, but the bread was soggy. I suspect it had been placed on a warming tray. My husband usually tips more than 20%. This time I told him to leave a small tip. I usually don't give bad reviews, but this restaurant needs to be consistent in its service. Sometimes we get excellent service. We were late for the movie.

I went to Friday's and Applebees both in one weekend and they are not the same and should not be considered the same venue even though their menus are very similar.
Friday's ribs taste just a tad better, primarily because of the J/D sauce ( grilled onion/honey base). Applebees chicken is more juicy and moist (less intensely heated grilled). Friday's steaks are a little thicker but not the quality of Texas Roadhouse. Applebees are just a little thinner but a tad more tender with more natural juice. So the price to quality of the meal is definitely based upon price. Friday's is more expensive per size, and Applebees is cheaper in ratio to size. Friday's charge too much for the sides and Applebees provides cheaper/smaller sides. Price, quality, quantity ratio Applebees is just a shade.
Service between the two Friday's was not as crowed, but our waiter had to be "tracked-down" after contacting the hosts. Applebees wait person was attentive and actually served us well even though Applebees was more crowed. That said, this is "opinions" on TGI Friday's and when you segment all the parts is that Friday's to me is a little over priced average restaurant when it comes to food and service even with the fruity teas.

Typical bad TGIF food. I had the Jack Daniels chicken which was ... chewy. Sides were decent. Draught beer selection lacking, with only one local craft on tap. Great service at the bar, however.

We went on Thanksgiving night.

The service was great, the food was good, and the price was right.

We were traveling through town on the night will went, and we were very happy with our experience.

I would go there again.

Thank Bryan F
