When we want to see a movie we drive into downtown Houston to the Sundance. Valet parking, bar, restaurant, great employees and very clean. There are no pre movie commercials and again, your feet don't stick to the floor! There was actually an issue with the quality of the movie today, it never quit but the color went wacky for a few minutes, but when the movie was over an employee was at the door handing out free passes and apologizing. That is the way to treat a customer! Excellent Experience every single time.

This is a pretty cool place but it really only deserves 3 stars. It would get 4 stars if the food was better. It would have gotten 5 if they hadn't double booked our seats.

This is the former Angelika theater downtown by Hobby Center. It's been redone and is part of the Sundance Enterprise founded by none other than Robert Redford. Sundance Film Festival is in Utah and now is much more, including cinemas, websites for fashion, jewelry, footwear, you name it.

The theater has a very cool look and feel to it. Much like being in Utah...very much a "lodge" feel to it. Staffers are friendly and accommodating.

And they validate for parking which is across the street.

The concept is you buy your tickets online or at the theater and you have reserved or designated seats. Which is way cool when it works. We went to see "Vacation" and bought out tickets online and it all worked well.

After that we decided to see "Trainwreck" and when we got to the ticket line there was a woman seeking a refund for her tickets as her party of 4 had cancelled on her. She had two tickets left. The cashier was going to refund her money when my wife said "Why don't we just buy her tickets and give her the money?"...That was cool with the cashier...after we confirmed the tickets were valid we paid her the $20 for the tickets.

We had about 30 minutes to kill so we decided to eat. I ordered a Turkey club sandwich and their home made chips and my wife got the steak quesadilla. We took the food to our seats and that is when the trouble started.

We had reserved seats for Row N seats 10 and 11 and when we got there the seats were occupied...this during the trailers so the light was low and the place pretty packed. We had to crawl over a good number of people only to find out the seats were taken. Yikes!

We compared tickets and sure enough the folks in our seats had the same tickets. Back out to the front office and after explaining our dilemma the attendant checks the computer and takes us back to the seats.

He points to the first row after the break and we settle in...he advises us that when he goes to the front he'll make sure the seats we're in a booked so they don't double book them again.

Ooops! Too late...up walk a party of 6...a woman lets us know we're in their seats and again we get up...and move ourselves to empty seats. The attendant meanwhile comes back and sees us moving...he apologizes and explains that he had found these second seats had previously been sold.

He made an very well meaning apology and gave us two free tickets to a future viewing but the experience was really uncomfortable.

We finally settle in and discover the food is kind of bland. The chips were not fully cooked, you know how soggy home made chips can be? Yuch!

My wife didn't finish her steak quesadilla. We both agreed that the movie experience, aside from the seating episode, was pretty good but we'd probably eat somewhere else in the future.

Note: They do have a full bar so you can take your food and drink into the movie. The seats have a small table every other seat so you can put your food down. Except for us sitting in seats that were side arm chairs like your Grandma had in her dining room...not comfortable at all.

This cinema is really clean and it's very pleasing to the eye. The seats are also very comfortable & I love how you choose your seats unlike other places.

Seen Ex Machina at this theatre. This movie threatre is cool because it has a small bar and restaurant when you first enter. You can take your drinks to your assigned seating and there are nice arm rests and cup holders.

Its really clean, nice, staff is friendly.
