This is our favorite sushi in Houston! It's quality, fresh and delicious. A little on the high price side but we'll worth it. We love the sashimi for two chef's choice. We've also had the Omakase as well which was incredible but very expensive. $145/person. Special occasion for sure. If you like sushi you must come here!

The best sushi/ sashimi in Houston and comparable to anything nationwide. I always make a stop here when in town. My favorite is the sashimi for two. Comes on a huge plate with real grated wasabi. The fish selection varies and depends on the chef, but it never ceases to amaze me. The pieces are just the right size and melt in your mouth with a delicate taste that is just right and not overpowering. If it comes with raw shrimp, make sure to ask them to fry the heads as a perfect end to the meal. We usually get the sushi uni a la carte. Always prepared perfectly and delightfully addicting. When getting the sushi, the fish is complemented with rice that is seasoned just right and cooked to perfection where each grain is distinct yet sticky. This is the place for true sushi lovers.

The rolls are original and tasty. I don't like fried food and they accommodate me by making some of their unique rolls without frying items, good way to eat if you are gluten free too! The service can be a bit hit or miss if they're busy, like having to request water refills etc.

Great crab dishes and can not go without wanting an order of the kobe beef tacos. Great service and rolls are reasonable priced. Always busy at lunch and dinner.

MY wife and I planned for some time to have dinner at Kata Robata, one of our favorite Japanese restaurants in town. Located in a nondescript strip mall on the corner of Kirby and Richmond, its interior is modern, light and clean. The food is always good. The sushi bar is arguably the best in town, but the rest of the offerings are no less enjoyable. On this visit, we focused on small plates and Ramen. Everything we ordered was well-prepared, nicely presented and delicious. The spicy ramen was particularly exquisite, and quite generous. In fact, even though my wife and I shared one portion, what each of us got was still quite generous. While the prices of sushi and sashimi are steeper than in other places in town, the other Japanese dishes are quite reasonably priced. There were two issues, however, that disturbed us: first, the place is quite noisy. In fact, around 8:00 pm, the restaurant was full, and despite sitting at a small table, we couldn't hear each other talk, so after a while, we started texting because talking was useless. The second issue was out waiter. He seemed to be in a hurry and in fact, despite having six separate dishes, we were out of Kata Robata in less than 50 minutes. We felt hurried and we hadn't finished one dish when the next one was already at the table. This, after having told the waiter that we were in no hurry. Another issue we had is that we ordered all our dishes at the beginning, but hoping to have them one at a time. Well, the kitchen sent the spiciest dish out first and we got the mildest and most delicate dish last. This makes no sense, and it suggests that neither our waiter, nor the kitchen think of the right order of serving food: from milder and delicate, to heartier and spicier. Kata Robata has a ways to go before reaching the level of a fine restaurant. However, the dishes are good, so with some training and sound isolation, it might make it.
