This was my husband's first time here. I have been many times, but not in the last 10 years. I was very disappointed that there was not a tour. We just walked around looking in the different rooms, it was way too cold to read all the pictures. I really missed hearing the stories of the palace.

We toured the Bishop's Palace on their traditional New Years Day open house, the first and second floor were open for viewing and they served champagne! The wood work was stunning, the artwork and stained glass windows were all of the highest quality and beauty. We were so glad we braved the cold and went on the tour.

A place filled with local history that enriched Galveston Island's early development. Great opportunity to become knowledgeable about the people, the religion, and Galveston Island.

This is not an activity for strollers or wheelchairs. We took kids ages 4-13 though and they did okay although we could have spent more time had we not kept up a pace for their interests. I was disappointed the home is mainly empty rooms. I expected it to be like other old museum homes and be filled with period pieces. However, the architecture is incredible. The wood work & stained glass are both one of a kind. There’s a lovely gift shop in the basement. The staff were extremely unfriendly.
