We had our family reunion in Galveston and stayed here -- we had an amazing trip! The house is gorgeous, close to the beach, had great bedrooms with comfy beds, and lots of family gathering spots. Loved having the game tables -- my kids were obsessed! We usually rotate family reunion spots but we've already reserved our spot for next summer!!

This is indeed a lovely place in a perfect location for us, and our 3 generation family were hoping to come back for many years to come. Upon arrival we checked out the upstairs floors, as instructed, but failed to inspect the garage area. In one area of the garage all screens were out.
One of our party noticed a screen falling down in another area but, because of the other damage, did not tell me about it until we were penalized for it. Upon returning to our home, I received a call from the owner who talked about some boards that the kids had moved (they were laying on the ground), which I was aware of, the screen, which I had no knowledge of until after and her problem with raccoons, hence no replacement of the screens in the aforementioned outer area. I thought everything was okay until I received an email that I was being penalized $100 for screen replacement! As the children (3 and under) were never left unattended, I still do not see how we could be held responsible. I'd ask the raccoons!
On check out as we checked under beds and couches, it was obvious that they had not been cleaned in a while. The oven was not cleanThe TVs upstairs do not get good reception so render themselves useless.
We were prepared to overlook the TV and clean ourselves, the next time. However, seeing as the owner was, in my opinion, inreasonable, there will not be a next time. At $600 a night this should be better than this. There are other houses next door.

Thank you for your review. I understandt that a person from your group has already posted a review notating this incident which you have mentioned. We apologize if your experience was negative.

As I told her, we take pride in our property and strive to provide a welcoming as well as comfortable vacation rental property for all our renters to enjoy.

You are correct, renters are expected to inspect the home upon check in, as it is outlined in the check in procedures and rental agreement. Reporting anything that is unsatisfactory to your liking is the best way to resolve an issue. Our employees walk through and inspect the property before and after each stay n order to reinforce our policies. Our strict policies are included in the contract to ensure that the renter is protected as well as the home.

As I you’re the other person from your group, it is important to us that renters can enjoy a vacation home that has been properly kept to their satisfaction. We make a point to address all issues to provide a clean, comfortable environment for our renters as that is exactly what we would want as renters. If we were to allow renters to stray from the guidelines, our home would not be suitable. Unfortunately, you did not communicate or report anything to us unsatisfactory to your liking after your check in. It is difficult for us to resolve any matters if we are not notified and made aware.

Furthermore, we DO NOT charge $600 per night nor have we ever charged $600 per night for our rental property. This can be confirmed on our website & Flipkey. With that said, we only withheld a portion of your deposit to repair the damage so that the property is in good condition for future renters. We do not keep damage deposits as part of commission/profit. The remaining balance was refunded back to you.

In the many years of renting out our property, we have only received 2 negative reviews, both from your group. Our standards are high and we take online reviews & criticism highly seriously. We take pride in our property and strive to provide a welcoming as well as comfortable vacation rental property for all our renters to enjoy.

We do appreciate your input and we will note this for future reference on how our policies are communicated to future renters.

The house was nice enough although not a good place for young kids. The owner needs to fix the shower outside as well. It was also poorly cleaned. On the first day that I got there, a screen was broken and the owner accused us of breaking it. Our word against hers, but she wouldn't give us our deposit back. Unfortunately for her, we will be staying at another house on the same resort (resort was awesome).
