You will feel like you are in an Old West town. The hotel fit the period and is with a look. However, the stampede was disappointing as the longhorns moved so slowly and the cowboys didn’t add really anything to it either. It’s ok, but nothing to write home about.

They do an adequate job of showing you 'how it was'. It's not pricey but more than reasonable. They try to give you the understanding of what it was like (and when) for the Stockyards. You see a rise in business during the World Wars, for example. I believe the buildings are basically original but repurposed to restaurants, tourist sales, etc. so you can envision when there were cattle herding. I had heard from Texans it was nicknamed Fort Worthless because they didn't do business in oil. But the meat shipment / processing aspect was intriguing. If you're in the area, make the stop to see this part of the old west. Good family place with a carnival type park in the immediate area.

This place is awesome. There is so much to do, everyone will be happy. At 11.30 am and 4.00 pm they have a mini cattle drive through the streets. They also have museums and lots of shops ave restaurants as well as a farmer's market and food and drink stands. We rode the party wagon and then went horseback riding from the Livery. Then we tried the cattle pen maze....younger children should have an adult with them for this. Finally we went to the awesome petting zoo, where they had adults and baby goats and sheep, an antelope, a llama, and a porcupine! Parking is 15 dollars.

Worth the time to take the tour. History is fascinating and this was a great part of it. Come early to avoid the heat and the tour will be over as the cattle drive starts.

We were here for a 1 day visit with friends from Arlington, this really is a great place to spent time at.
We will return again one day.
