I live on WG Jones State Park and ride my bike/hike weekly through the park. It's very peaceful and tranquil.

I am a birder, so I came here for the nesting Red-Cockaded Woodpeckers. I was able to see one without much effort, as they nest here and are well documented by birders (and the green striping on the nesting trees). I walked a lot of trails and really enjoyed it. The only negative thing is how close this place is to the busy roads and traffic-ugh. It is a shame that this place can't be more peaceful in all spots--you have to go pretty deep in not to hear the traffic.
There were lots of horse riding trails and walking trails--you could explore for days!

I love to take my dog here to walk. Some people allow their dogs off leash on the trails, but always have a leash for when another dog on leash or a horse comes along. Technically, dogs are supposed to be on a leash, and this is usually a good idea because other dogs (and some people) may not be comfortable with off-leash dogs. Many of the trails are shared equestrian trails and an there is an equestrian parking lot. There are nice picnic areas, some close to the parking, others requiring some hiking. This would be a great place for running or jogging if you like a softer crushed rock or packed dirt surface, but some areas have paths with larger rocks, and some paths are sandy. Seasonal or periodic controlled underbrush fires and harvesting do occur, but usually there are signs indicating this. It can get really muddy and wet on many paths after a heavy rain.
