My wife and I visited Gaia Riverlodge as part of our belated honeymoon and first anniversary in October of 2018. We spent 4 days here and 6 at the sister property, Matachica, in Ambergris Caye. The grounds and views at Gaia are beautiful. Listening to cascades below is relaxing and the views are breathtaking. Meticulous attention is paid to the grounds, the rooms, and the main building (bar, restaurant, lobby). The staff is exceptional. Very warm and welcoming, personable, and fun to be around. They pay attention to every detail while being completely genuine. We immediately felt like friends with all of the staff members. The food and drinks are delicious and the bar staff is very knowledgeable and experienced. From Gaia, we visited Vaqueros waterfall, Big Rocks waterfall, and hiked around a bit. Gaia's provided mountain bikes were great. We had guided tours to Caracol (just my wife and I) which included a stop at Rio Frio cave and Rio On pools, and we canoed through Barton Creek Cave (a Mayan ceremony/sacrifice cave) with a stop at Calico Jack's zip-lines. We had Calbert as our guide for all-of-the-above, and he was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Calbert and the rest of the staff at Gaia really made our trip. I recommend anyone visiting the inland rain- and pine forests of Belize to stay here. The resort, however, is very remote and it is a three-hour drive from Belize City International. I would not recommend anyone rent a car and attempt this drive on their own as a good portion of it is off-road and the signage is poor. However, we realized immediately upon arriving that it was 100% worth the day's travel. Go to Gaia!

Room tip: We stayed in "Cascade" and the direct view of the cascades was incredible.

We stayed in a mountain view cabana at Gaia Riverlodge for 4 days and 3 nights. The room was beautiful! The bed was incredibly comfortable and waking up every morning to see the mountains and forest was perfect.

While staying at Gaia we took a guided tour to Caracol. Calbert was a fantastic tour guide. The hotel also sent us with a great lunch. Table cloth included!

The hotel grounds are beautiful. The waterfall was beautiful and a perfect place to relax. We can't wait to go back!

Gaia is such a wonderful gem hidden in the mountains of Belize! Beware:: it’s a place for people who can withstand traveling long distances on dirt roads, enjoy adventure, being disconnected from the world, can deal with no AC, enjoy local foods and drinks, be waited on hand and foot by the most genuine staff! :) :)
The entire process of booking was so painless! Everything mentioned on the package was spot on!
We enjoyed our time with Isael, who probably the most knowledgeable tour guide we have ever had on a trip. Highly recommend him for ANY tour you take with Gaia!
Our package included all the musts and the homemade food from the gardens on site were delicious! The waiting staff, Elwin & Derby, were so great! We gained so many memories and enjoyed our time at this resort! Recommend to anyone who has similar interests and enjoys an adventure!

Gaia Riverlodge was breathtaking and stunning from the views, to the amazing rooms, great food and amazing/friendly staff. We enjoyed biking to the waterfall, doing the nature hike, and relaxing while listening to the waterfall. The grounds of Gaia was just beautiful and well maintained. We did a tour to the Xunantunich ruins and was blown away from the beauty and history. Our tour guide, Calbert, was amazing and made this trip more memorable. We definitely recommend visiting Belize and staying at Gaia!

I live in Belize and this is one of my favourite spots to go and chill and relax. The hotel is fantastic and being by the river and the waterfall is a truly unique experience. You can spend hours by the waterfall on the sun loungers and just unwind. Food is great too. Staff have always been helpful and care for your needs, for example I walked up from the waterfall and was hot and out of breath, a waiter came with a glass of cold water for me. How refreshing to feel that you are being cared for. Thank you Gaia for a lovely break.
