This is a great little motel in a logical spot midway between Adelaide and Melbourne. The host is an amazing guy who could not be more welcoming. He is very passionate and this is quite addictive. He has also has a little gem and fossil stall. His pinball museum is very addictive but he has a great selection to play

We checked Trip Advisor for accommodation in Nhill as an overnight rest stop between Kangaroo Island and Melbourne. Nhi Oasis Motel had pretty good reviews and seemed quirky. The pinball museum sold it. We got there after dark and eventually found it on the edge of town right next to the highway close to speed limit sign. Yes it was a motel from the old days with drive through and reception on the right as you come in. Desk clerk was good, room was tired, fat screen TV good, A/C worked but was noisy, bed comfortable, wifi sort of worked but was very slow. Ouver Windows in bathroom picked up the traffic noise but did not keep us awake. Good shower and breakfast of cereal, toast, juice and hot drink ok. Rock collection was good as per other reviews. In the end we did not check out the pinball museum. Would we stay there again? Probably not. It was cheap and honest but old and tired.

Room Tip: Away from highway

The motel was basic accommodation, but was clean and adequate for an over night stay halfway between Melbourne and Adelaide.
The stay was inexpensive and included breakfast, the manager/owner was a very pleasant gentleman. The town is very quiet and to find a meal at night was not an easy task, but a pub meal was found and enjoyed.

Let's face it, Nhill is really just a stop to break the journey from Melbourne to Adelaide. The motel is your typical 1960's style - small but functional. However, the owner, Simon, is very friendly and helpful and is a very interesting person. He owns the Pinball Museum right next door and this has the most amazing selection of machines from the 1950s to the present day.

Simon also provides a free continental breakfast and free wifi. The only problem I found was that the air conditioner was extremely noisy so we turned it off. However, you could hear the one going all night in the room next door. It's fairly close to the highway and you may hear trucks going past.

I got to stay here a couple of nights for work it was an old motel in a quiet country town now I wasn't expecting the Hilton but the shower was terrible the water in the bottom was still draining after I was dressed the heater virtually did not work however I'm pretty sure friends in Melbourne could hear it running the bed was comfy I was a little concerned about the sagging roof and the broken picture frame hanging above me but I'm pretty sure it was the mice that put me over the edge ... some other companions found alternative accommodation
