Older style rooms but spacious clean and comfortable. The motel adjoins an area frequented by kangaroos and emus early evening. The location is within walking distance to cafes and pub. A visit to the outstanding Visitor & Cultural centre is a must as are the many bush walks in the Grampians to suit every fitness level. Halls Gap is a beautiful place, would stay longer than two days next time.

A busy weekend with the Grape Escape going on just up the road (a short 15 minute walk but caution there is no footpath heading into town). We were happy to stay anywhere as we just needed a bed, a shower and to be able to make a cuppa.
The place delivered on all three requirements but only just but we were happy with that. There were no towels provided, had to ask and it was house keeping, or as it turned out forgetful husband forgot. Shower pressure is a little low but the water hot so all good. There is a mini bar in the room, quite unusual for a motel, particularly a low budget motel but they still charge 5-star hotel prices lol.
I was going to mention that no cooking is allowed in the room yet they provide a toaster but no plates or cutlery. It wasn’t until the next day I found a tiny sign saying these are available in a cupboard next to room 1. Slightly odd I thought, have the sign at least next to the toaster to avoid confusion.
The only other negative is the thin walls and noisy fridge annoying you through the night.
The room is basic and comfortable and not many places have the local wildlife (kangaroos) in your backyard. Served its purpose so a three star rating is deserved.

Thanks for you review!
We are all human and do sometimes make mistakes for which we apologise about your towels not being present when you arrived this is certainly not intentional.
There is a combined pedestrian and bike path that runs the entire length of Halls Gap from the Ararat turn off to the Bellfield Dam right through the centre of town and right past our motel on the opposite side of the road. So there is a footpath just it doesn't have a big enough sign.
Apologies if the fridge is too noisy will check that out today.

Thanks again for your feedback.

Hi Catherine,
Thank you for taking the time to review our motel.
We work hard on being clean, comfortable and affordable for our guests.
The wildlife experiences vary day by day but are a great natural contribution to our Motel.
Regards,
Vern.

Nice size motel, very friendly staff who were helpful, lovely rooms (each named after an Australian animal), very clean, not far from the main part of Halls Gap, great price, would recommend, no need for anything more.
