We were in Halls Gap for 2 nights. The second night we decided to go out for dinner, unfortunately another restaurant in town was closed so we decided to go to Quarry.
The menu was boring and we should've read the signs but we decided to give it a crack.
The venue itself has so much potential which has not been realised with lots of cheap ugly furnishings and odd things around the restaurant. Rocks with letters on the tables, really?
Once seated we were given an old vinyl record cover of different bands with an old laminated menu inside. Is this like a Hard Rock Café being a "quarry" restaurant?
The entrees were served and what a disgrace to food, major issues with accompaniments and flavours.
The kangaroo was cooked ok however all the junk that it was served with was terrible. The sauce was obviously just out of a jar. The presentation was that of a 15 year old trainee.
The biggest joke was the Camembert wedges. The were soft balls with a piece of bacon inside, no crunch whatsoever. They were coated in a sickly sweet plum sauce that ruined the whole dish.
The Parma for main was of regular standard and it made sense that the place was empty on their 'pub grub night'.
Real pity and a waste of a great venue. Still kicking ourselves we didn't go to the Kookaburra hotel!
