A very nice location to enjoy the mountain mornings. We have stopped many times. Very reasonable - clean and comfortable and rooms have a small refrigerator. The staff is friendly and accommodating to family pets. The small town has some nice local restaurants. The smoke house next door has a nice breakfast buffet for early departure and offers some weekend music.

LLenke, thanks so much for your review and your comments, glad you like the place. We feel like it is very different in attitude and style than the typical road side motels. Glad you are stopping here on all your trips, we appreciate your business.

We were traveling from Florida to Indiana and stopped at rest area in Tennessee where the attendant gave us the recommendation for this place. I am so glad we Took her recommendation . If you want a modern Traditional place off the interstate this is not for you. It had so much charm and the restaurant attached was amazing. This will always be our stop when we pass through again

With a move in and an orientation at Sewanee on back to back weekends we stayed here two trips both single nights. I will say, we read the previous reviews on TA. Many of the photos of negative posts have been addressed, those associated with cleaning, paint, mold mildew, etc. We did NOT see any of those. The room was clean and has been renovated. Our biggest issue was climate and smell. On BOTH our trips, we have walked in and the AC has not been on, and the rooms were very humid. We guess they turn off the AC units to save energy. Both visits we checked in after about 7 PM the first night and 9 PM on the second night. On our second room, there was a pitcher of "Damprid" desicant to assist with the humidity. Our bed and linens took untill about 1-2 AM in the morning to finally not feel damp. The bed was comfortable, but my wife felt the sheets were "scratchy", I was just trying to feel like we weren't camping. Clean hotel, and friendly service, but climate knocked it back to only three bullet points. Suggest you check in early, or call ahead and make sure your AC is on.

Knee-dragger, thanks for your review and comments, so sorry for the dampness. Yes, the rain all summer has been an issue, and has caused some of our rooms to feel damp. Running the AC during hot high temps all the time too does not help the matter because it pumps in more humidity into the room. Now that the weather is turning to fall, and lower temps, we expect these issues to go away. This happens every year during long hot days & nights with rain. We appreciate your business and hope to see you again on your next trip.

Musty rooms. I tried 2 and both were bad. Towels like sandpaper. WiFi hasn’t been functioning for days apparently and the front office staff don’t know if it’s working or not. Wood and tile floors that don’t match in the rooms. Low flow showers. Fun country style restaurant.

TH, thank you for your review and comments, so sorry we did not measure us to your standards. We have had some problems with musty feeling in the rooms due to the damp wet conditions with hot temperatures on top of that, and we have taken a lot of measures to eradicate this. Now that temps are cooler, that issue will resolve itself.

So this review is in context of available hotels in Monteagle.

We were attending the Under ground bluegrass concert about 8 miles away. After a lot of hotel research, we chose this lodging. Rooms were dated and had a musty odor. Neither phone or clock was plugged in.

Place was very full and parking in front was limited, so we ended up parking in back, but not a big deal.

There was shuttle that picked up passengers at hotel to underground bluegrass venue i.e. the caverns, but hotel made it clear they were not affiliated with shuttle. Too bad, wish they had relationship as I ended up being designated driver. No taxi service in town.

Got GREAT price booking four months in advance using hotel booking site. So for price, was worth it.

Kingman, thanks for your review and comments. We are very fortunate to be so close to Bluegrass Underground, we see lots of folks coming to the shows. The BGU shuttle that picks up here is for the BGU customers who have purchased advance VIP packages for the show, (which includes shuttle service) and is not for general admission customers, and it us usually full. I have seen them let some customers ride if they have no shows and room on the coach. BGU staff has always been more than helpful and gracious with all customers. Yes, it would be nice if there were a shuttle for other customers going to BGU, maybe next year.
