My husband and I spent two nights as guests at the castle. It was better than I expected. Our host and hostess were friendly and engaging, and we felt like welcomed guests. Maureen has paid attention to little details that made me feel special: thick terry robes, finer quality soaps, antique furnishings. The breakfast is magnificent, with fine china and many tasty options. Host Peter is so interesting to talk with. He knows a lot about the history of the area. The gardens around the castle are lovely, with plenty of pretty blossoms and little alcoves with benches. The vista from the castle is breath taking. Expansive views of the wildlife estuary for miles around.
Although it is an old castle, it has comfortable modern amenities.
We've been on a road trip through Scotland and Wales for 2 weeks, and this is by far our favorite place. Highly recommended.
Travelers tip: pay a little extra for the Nightingale Suite in the castle turret. The view is amazing.
