A delightful surprise- mainly due to the friendly staff under management of Annest. Even under pressure of breakfast rush they were helpful and cheerful, and her unusual can-do approach to service was very welcome.
Our room was spacious and comfortable, overlooking the bay and with a settee to enjoy the sea view. Quality towels and bath sheets were much appreciated.
Dining was very enjoyable and varied. Some interesting dishes never experienced before and cooked to perfection. In all , great value.
Any negatives? The owner, who keeps a backroom profile, is gruff and made no attempt to engage with us even when we bumped in to him. He nearly lost our custom by telling us on the phone we couldn't have the room we wanted on the days we needed. We persevered later in the day and the wonderful Annnest, as if by magic ,did the business for us.

Room tip: Try room 11- can be made up as twin if you have back problems.

We booked here following a recommendation from staff on our caravan site. Our table was ready for us and our drinks order quickly taken with explanation that once the veg was ready we could go the carvery table. The meats on offer were good and was served in good portions. The Yorkshire pudds were good as was the roast parsnips and carrots. It was the rest of the veg and gravy that let the meal down. The roasties were hard and tiny portions of broccoli, cauli and peas. It may seem picky but a carvery usually means a wider range of veg to choose from instead of peas which I prepare when I can’t be bothered to do anything else.
I ordered a dessert which came quickly and clearly microwaved - although why I was given a soup spoon and knife did leave me confused. All in all we left feeling full, reasonably charged, but feeling that small changes to the meal could have made a massive difference to our level of enjoyment

Staff unfriendly, 3 young girls running the bar and resteraunt. Totally inexperienced not their fault as only young. Food disgusting and let's face it when the bill for 4 people comes to over £100 you expect decent food and service. Fish been refried. Steak, fatty, dry and full of gristle. Crispy ends and corners of potato that were supposed to be chips. Too many negative points to mention and the response from management was something you would expect from a school child. Don't waste your money.!!!

For a long weekend away we chose the Trecastell hotel as it was in the right price range and has a great location a stone’s throw from the sea in the quiet town of Bull Bay. The hotel is fairly traditional in style, and our room was pleasant and clean with a partial sea view. In room amenities include a small flat screen TV, daily water, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer and hot water bottles. There are some things that could have been improved in the room though. The bedside lamp didn’t work because the socket had no power, the shower head was too low, and a towel rail in the bathroom would be handy.

The staff were polite, and the young guy who served at breakfast was really good and efficient even when the breakfast room was nearly full. Food in the evening was very good, and the sea view conservatory was a nice location for a meal. One night service was quite slow because of a big party of people.

Overall the hotel suited our needs and we’d stay here again if we return to Anglesey sometime.

We hope you do and did you let someone know about the socket as not sure which room you were in as all seem to be working.
If you could let us know please so as we can rectify the problem.
Thank you

The hotel is in a prime spot overlooking Bull bay, The room had a partial sea view and was cosy ,(not a lot of room but ample for a short stay). The window had a crack in the glass which needed replacing. The bathroom was large with a bath and shower, the water was hot and towels good, however the grout around the bath is badly in need of replacing ,in fact the bathroom could do with overhauling . The food was good and the young man serving breakfast was very attentive and charming. Would rate this hotel good as it was better than average but can be. Improved to be very good.

Room tip: For longer stay I would choose a room with full sea view

Thanks for constructive comments.
We are awaiting some window units to be replaced and the cracked one in room 9 is one of them.
The bathroom has had work done as was due some work doing to it since you were here and we are working our way through all the bathrooms completely modifying them as and when we have quiet times which aren't very often as we are full nearly all year round.
We have 6 new bathrooms out of the 14 so far.
Thank again for constructive review.
