And thats not saying that much. Booked into a chalet. Familiar to those here wile it was Butlins. The sheets had been laundered but not much had changed. To be fair once you got used to the rather tired furnishings it was OK. Just. Luckily the couple who I met on the stairwell when I arrived had just refused to use the chalet allocated opposite, so I had the whole floor to myself so quite.

BUT saving grace (worringly) was when you drove out of the camp the world improved ten fold. The area to explore is good enough reason to come here and have just a bed telly and a kitchen.

Wont bore you with a travelogue, others have done before me, but this is a fantastic place to go on holiday, so for that reason alone. 6/10 couldent do worse. !!

Room Tip: Use the Travelodge.

Went to this Haven site on a Sun Holiday deal the last weekend of Oct half term. The weather was appalling but that didnt stop everyone on site having fun. We stayed in an upstairs chalet type flat rather than a caravan but it was spotlessly clean with all usual things you expect - tv, fridge, cooker, microwave and kettle. All cutlery and crockery were clean and bedding clean. Only problem was lumpy matress but as we've experienced Haven budget accom before, we expected this and took extra quilts so used theirs as matress toppers.
Plenty to do on site for kids - swimming with flumes, football pitches, crazy golf, boating, cycle hire and a high ropes course and playgrounds. Some things have extra cost but we managed the whole weekend hardly spending anything. There was a full programme of activities day and evening which was okay.
There are 2 entertainment centres which are adjacent - one predominatly for children (magic shows, silly entertainers and mini disco etc) and an arcade and the other meant for more adult entertainment - bands etc. Kids can go in both until quite late but we found the adult one bit overwhelming and too big to keep an eye on the kids.
The site is split by a railway line with a bridge over, although cars also use this bridge so not so safe to let kids out by themselves as cars driving all over the site. There was also a small arcade and pub(Barrel and mash) that served food on the furthest side of site next to bike hire place but the arcade seemed a bit sad and run down in there.
There are 2 Spar shops i think, a burger king, pizza place and chip shop and you can bring food into the bar areas.
There are nice coast and woodland walks around the site.
On the whole despite the weather we had a great weekend and will definitley be going back!

We found Hafan Y Mor to be a very pleasant and well-situated base for our short break to North Wales. We received a very warm welcome from the staff in reception, who had even called to check we were okay finding the holiday camp in the dark and gave us clear directions.
Our caravan, and the park overall, were exceptionally clean - even the kitchen items were spotless, which we have not always found to be the case in similar holiday camps. We were a little disappointed that the camp restaurant finished serving quite early (I think it was 9pm, which seems very early for a holiday diner, particularly following our eight hour journey), meaning we were left with a limited choice of takeaway on our arrival (pizza, burger or fish and chips - maybe okay for most but needing gluten-free this just left me with chips). This was not a problem for the rest of our stay as the camp shop sells a reasonable variety of food for self catering and there are plenty of restaurants in the nearby towns.
We enjoyed some of the camp's evening entertainment, which seemed a little limited, but it was out of season. However, I found the noise levels far too high during the children's entertainment slot - I am hard of hearing and sat at the back of the hall and still felt deafened waiting fot the adults' entertainment time! I also thought the adult music videos during breaks in the entertainment were not best suited to children's viewing, but this did not seem to deter many parents with young children from keeping them up late at night.
The camp has plenty of facilities for its guests, but it would seem a shame not to explore such a beautiful area of Wales. Hafan y Mor is close to Portmeirion, which is well worth a visit - whether or not you wish to buy the pottery or remember the TV series The Prisoner. There are numerous other places to visit in the area, suitable for families as well as couples or single travellers. The local scenery is fantastic with mountains, rugged coast, beaches, and woodland. There are very picturesque towns and villages within reasonable driving distance, and lovely old railways to enjoy.
We found it a good base for our weekend walking break, the main purpose being to climb Mt Snowdon. A short drive to Llanberis allowed us to explore the 'easy' route, which was still very rewarding. Having completed that, we enjoyed driving through the mountains to Beddgelert, a quaint village with an interesting story. There are so many other local walks and various routes up Mt Snowdon, as well as numerous interesting places to visit, that a weekend is just not long enough!
I would definitely return to North Wales and would happily stay again at Hafan y Mor.

I had been to Haven holiday parks in wales as a child and so we jumped at the chance of reliving some old memories and returning to North Wales to a Haven park. Did not realise that it would be so much of a time travel trip though! The chalet that we were booked into was supposed to be Super Comfort. It looked like it had been last painted in the 1960's and last cleaned then too! There was a giant hole in the wall of the bathroom and the shower stank of mould so much that I had to clean it for 2 hours with bleach before we could even dream of using it! In the bedroom, the pillows did not even have pillow cases on them, the curtains were different curtains, colours and lengths. The TV did not have a remote control with it so we were unable to watch TV. Luckily we had brought our own DVD player with us. We were booked half board so ventured over to the restaurant on the first night there. The food was dreadful. There was very little choice and the food that was there was pre-processed rubbish that was microwaved or deep fried. The only thing available to drink was water or orange squash.
We had a bad night sleep and then tried breakfast. This was just as bad as the previous nights dinner so we took the decision then to eat off site for the remainder of our holiday just so that we could get something to eat.
We tried the facilities - the pool was only open for a few hours a day which was ridiculous as this meant that if you wanted to swim you could not go sight seeing. The shop was expensive and badly stocked. The staff could not have cared less when we complained at the time and so I wrote to the head office on our return home. I got a letter back from them that basically called me a liar and told me that "everyone else likes the food so if it is not to your taste, that is not our problem". If this is their idea of customer service.. they can keep it!

Room Tip: Book someplace else!!!!

fantasitic kids activites, instructors were very nice, friendly .lots of family activities, carting around the park pedalos and a high ropes course to name just a few. there is so much to do for the family with brilliant kids shows and entertainers with live shows featuring celebrites while we were there we had same difference performing. The half board accomodation was a bit dated but extremly clean and comfortable. The meals were delicous and filling and there were not,the service was excellant. The sites swimming pool was brilliant! and from the tower where the slides start gave a brilliant scienic view of snowdonia. One of the on site restaurants the kids meals come in a bucket and spades.overall this was a fantastic family holiday!
