We have had a very good chicken breast with sweet potato fries. Friendly staff and a very cozy place.

Visiting family in this area we wanted to take them out to eat. The Bear has had a refurbishment and the decor is relaxed and quirky but comfortable. The staff were very friendly and easy to talk to, letting us know there would be a short wait but we weren't in a hurry. The menu caters for all, with monthly specials and menu staples. Ample portions at reasonable prices with meat sourced from the local butchers (they have a plaque denoting royal approval from HRH Prince of Wales). All the food was freshly cooked - beautiful battered cod, Caribbean chicken, 12oz gammon steaks and the posh burger was a delight! A little gem ❤
Lovely interior design. Lots of nooks and crannies to sit in. Great that they serve early evening as lots of places didn't start serving until 6.00. I chose the sticky chicken strips which were designed as a starter. I was expecting more salad and less chicken and had to check that they hadn't brought me the sharing platter by mistake as there were so many! They were delicious. We were lucky although after we were seated I heard a group being turned away as there was a kitchen issue! Hopefully a one off. We would go back.
On our way home to West Wales we stopped off for a comfort break as we had been driving for three hours.
Came across the Bear with rooms and the tables outside in the sun took our fancy.
Only had a snack with some homemade chocolate cake and two coffees but the food was really tasty, well presented, reasonable and staff were friendly and efficient .
Had a look inside as well and very tastefully designed and welcoming and a very extensive menu, priced well.
Next time we are passing through we will definately stop again.
Stopped off on the way to west Wales, looking for somewhere nice for lunch.
Sat outside in the sunshine, loved the little town square it is on, lots of foot traffic passing for people watching. Very continental feel!
Friendly staff and good service.
We had the sharing platter of cold meats, olives and chutneys. Also large plate of chicken goujans, chips and pease for our toddler (which I ate most of).
Really tasty, good quality. <£20 for lunch for 2+1/2 people.
