We went here for my daughters birthday and had a lovely lunch, we had the 3 meats, and my husband had the beef, there was 2 slices of each meat very nicely cooked and plenty of vegetables, the only thing missing was the stuffing, which we didn't realise until we had left, it didn't matter as it was very good without it. The only niggle was the ice cream my husband had for dessert was charged at £5.00, a bit expensive for 2 small scoops. We were not kept waiting long for our meals even though they were busy. Would recommend.

My wife is in a wheelchair , and to get in ,members of the public had to help with the

doors . It was the same on leaving the premises . We waited but no menus appeared so I

had to get them myself . The food was cheap but not very tasty . We had coffee after

the meal but there were no spoons to stir the sugar with . A poor experience in an int

-eresting tpwn .

A typical pub lunch menu and with some good vegetarian options. Service was great and food was delivered promptly to our table. We had fish and chips, nut roast and gammon. No complaints at all.

They do a great job with weekday lunch specials at just £5.95. Well kept beer and thick stone walls (free WiFi because your mobile won't work in the bar). You won't regret stopping by.

Centrally located pub serving good food with generous portions and local ales. Specials available at lunchtime for £5.95 - amazing value for money. Friendly atmosphere and good service. Old world charm with exposed wooden beams in the ceilings, uneven walls and photos & drawings from the time when it housed the Black Ox bank. Even the bar has wooden panelling that reminds one of the teller or cashier's counter. Don't miss the old memorabilia and the ancient large chair as you make your way to the toilets. Also the feeling that you are entering the offices of an important institution. Great place.
