Our stay was excellent. Our room was well-appointed and beautiful. The Service was superb, and the staff was very friendly and well-trained The displays of wildlife and their habitat was remarkable, and the collection of guns and waterfowl was breath-taking.

Not sure how to feel about this one. This is a "rustic" hotel on the 2nd and 3rd floors that line the interior of a big pyramid with balconies for every room that overlook a wide open Bass pro store below on the ground level. The store itself has tall cypress trees and even a lake with a boat dock and boats floating in it along with ducks and fish. Looking down from the balcony in the middle of the night after the customers have gone it looks like "Walnut Grove" with the rustic buildings.

It is a bit awkward to get up to the hotel as the "reception" is just off to the right after you come through the front entrance on the ground level (south side). There was nobody at the desk that evening or next morning. There's only a computer monitor with a few pics of the rooms and an elevator that requires a key card to use so you have to track somebody down to escort you up to the second floor where there is a person at another reception.

The room for 1 person for 1 night was $370. When I asked if I may see a room before springing for that amount I was told that this was not allowed.

The reception area had a piano and what looks like a bar that will possibly be opened at some point. The guy at the reception said that they had not acquired their liquor license yet although Uncle Buck's FishBowl & Grill Restaurant on the ground level had a fully functioning bar.

I decided to spring for it and found that the rooms are very nice and the sleep quality of the beds was on par with what I would expect for that price. I also noticed a lot of attention to minute detail in the room decor which did the job of making you feel as if you are in a rustic lodge and helping you to forget somewhat that you are actually in a glass pyramid building retail store next to the river in downtown Memphis.

I really like that the rooms have a hot tub! However, I was really surprised at the low quality bath robes. The texture of these bath robes was really irritating. I would have expected a really good quality terry cloth bath robe.

Overall I would say that it was worth the single experience but is not something I would do again.

This room (fishing cabin) had the weirdest set up. First of all there is a huge window in the bathroom with a see-thru curtain. No one can take a bath or shower without being on full display to the whole family....just strange. The loft set up was dangerous. The bunks were so close to the railing that a child or adult could easily fall off right into the bottom floor. I've stayed in bigger suites in NYC for less than the price of this room. Our room was not ready on time, so the lady at the desk did give us an extra set of elevator tickets, but the elevator was closed the next day for a private event. The free wi-do was sketchy, I couldn't ever stay connected for more than a few minutes. I am rating higher than a one because it was clean.

We had a great time at Big Cypress lodge! The lodge and rooms are beautifully decorated with huge timber beams! We got a room that overlooked the store via our private a screen porch! The room came with a huge basket of snacks, jerky and cookies! 4 passes to ride the elevator to the top($40 value) which was really nice!

Hello stephan s,
We are happy you had a great time at Big Cypress Lodge. As you experienced, our Mississippi Mud Cookies are marvelous. We enjoy distributing those cookies during turndown service. The amenity basket is also a nice treat. We appreciate you selecting Big Cypress Lodge.

Thank you,

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Big Cypress Lodge in Memphis, Tennessee. The hotel is beautiful! Our rooms were very comfortable, and beautifully decorated. We could sit on our porch, listen to the waterfall, while rocking in our rocking chairs. The room had a courtesy basket full of all kinds of goodies. Our room had a cozy fireplace. The carriage ride through downtown Memphis was lots of fun! Everyone was extremely nice and very accommodating. My Dad needed a wheelchair, the staff was very helpful in getting us a wheelchair and even pushing my Dad in the wheelchair. They told us just to call them and they would push him in the wheelchair anytime we needed them. Jeffrey Hill was one of the staff members who went above and beyond to make our stay very enjoyable.
